Misty Morning Hounds would like to send our sincere condolences to friends and family on the passing of Jim Meads, a legendary hunting photographer and wonderful friend to our hunt.

Rest in peace, you will be sorely missed.

Throwback Thursday- Foxhound puppies & their first fox 💚

Ever wonder how our drag packs teaches the hounds to follow our particular scent trail?
We start them early! Our stuffed fox friend here was spritzed with our scent of choice, anisette liqueur, prior to playtime. They catch on pretty quick the scent of anisette means good times to be had!

Safe to say our hounds missed huntsman, Katie Hughes, while she away at the Virginia Hound Show last weekend.

Glad to have her back at the helm and CONGRATS to all the hound show winners!

The hounds wish everyone a Happy Easter!

What did the Easter bunny bring them you ask? Baths and a squeaky deep cleaned kennel.

Once a month, a close to the 1st as volunteer schedules allow, the hounds have a spa day and the kennels get a deep clean. The hounds are all bathed, preventatively treated with flea/tick dip, toenail trimmed, and ears cleaned. This month that just happened to fall on Easter Sunday.

Work at the kennels never stops- Summer houndwalks are back in full swing!

Excuse the late posting but our 29th Closing Meet and Huntball was FANTASTIC! More photos should be up on Allene Rachel photography soon so keep an eye out! We’re so greatful for everyone came out to join Misty Morning Hounds as we ended our season- we hope everyone had a great time.

Huntsman, whips, field masters, landowners, our 2 foxes- we couldn’t have pulled this season off without every single one of you!

Our hounds did their very best for us all season long, without them none of this would happen. It’s back to leisurely houndwalks for them through the summer, which they have surely earned.

Our Masquerade Ball planning committee killed it this year- the food, band, the decorations were flawless. We danced, put a member on trial, and enjoyed the nights company! Not a bad way to officially end the season we think...

Shout out to Tack Shack of Ocala, Blue Water Bay, Friar’s Chicken, and Foxtail Coffee as well are our members for graciously donating to our silent auction.

We hope to see everyone again next year!

RSVP deadline for our last drag foxhunt of the season is TOMORROW. We hope to see a bunch of you next weekend to help celebrate the end of our season! Hounds will set off from the kennels at 8:30am with breakfast to follow!

A few things to note for people unfamiliar for the sport.
1) We’re a drag pack- our hounds hunt a human laid scent trail to a bag full of a hound safe goodies. No animals harmed!
2) We run 3 fields so there’s a place for everyone- experienced foxhunters & beginners!3) Jumping is not required, all our jumps have go arounds!
4) While we like to see everyone turned out in “proper” hunting attire- it’s not required! Western riders are welcome to join us.

Don’t forget the capping fee for junior riders includes a spectator this event too!
