SharronRocks
I have been sourcing and selling minerals for 30 years. You can find great info on rocks here.
When I was in Tucson for the gem show, this piece shouted out to me from one of the display cases at Matrix India at Mineral City. This is red calcite with mesolite inclusions and a bit of stilbite. There are so many things to see here that I took several pictures to catch every aspect as best I could. Only a very small pocket was found so it is very unlikely that more will be available. The entire case sold out within a few days
Another mineral from my personal collection - hydroxyl herderite from Brazil. I love herderite and have a very nice grouping of herderite from all over the world
I have been collecting minerals from India for many years. I bought this piece for my personal collection after I sold my rock shop. It is botroidal fluorite nestled in apophyllite. There are many very unusual things about this piece and I have never seen one quite like it
This has been resting on my kitchen windowsill for many years. Very rare kammererite from Brazil. Most all kammererite comes from Turkey so this piece is very special to me
I have finally managed to switch off the Meta AI commentary on all my posts so I will start posting here again as I consider my use of Facebook
Wonderful combination of fluorite and ruby jack sphalerite from the Elmwood mine in Tennessee
Today is the Longest Day, the gateway to summer. For all of you on the Summer Solstice, here is an Ethiopian chocolate opal geode reflecting bright sunny sparkles in its heart. Let us celebrate the fullness of the light. I’m off now to light the bonfire and await the moonrise
This lovely quartz crystal is perfectly suited to this sunny day approaching summer. It is from Brazil and has been permeated with iron oxide which gives it a golden glow. These are the original crystals known as “Golden Healers” by the metaphysical community. Since they are almost mined out and unavailable these days, many other kinds of quartz with this coloration is now called “Golden Healer” quartz but if you want the original, this is it. I was very excited to find a small lot of these in Tucson a few years ago. I believe there are a few left in stock at the High Springs Emporium Rock Shop should you be interested
Several years ago I was in Tucson and I met a Brazilian vendor who was set up at the show for the first time. He had a display of gorgeous rainbow-filled spheres from the Serra do Cabrol mines where the original Lemurian crystals were found. I bought almost every one he had. This one was my favorite. It had a penetrator crystal growing inside - absolutely magical! When I posted it along with other treasures found along the way, a client called immediately telling me that the picture moved her so much that she had to have it. Needless to say it did not make it back to the High Springs Emporium
It’s Father’s Day here. I want to share with you one of my most treasured fossils, a large megladon tooth from a sandbar off the beach in Venice, Florida near my grandmother’s house. She and my grandfather lived next to my mother and father long before the time of condos when the beaches were wild and lined with sea oats and cabbage palms. This tooth was given to her by a scuba diving friend after my grandfather died and it sat on her mantel for the rest of her life. My father gave it to me because she wanted me to have it, so it rests on my mantel now. My father’s side of the family had a powerful bite and a long memory. I honor my paternal ancestors whenever I hold it.
Included quartz is one of my favorite things. This Brazilian quartz cluster gets its pale yellow color from inclusions of sulphur. This is the largest specimen I have seen and I am proud to have it in my personal collection. It may look soft and subtle, but it packs a punch!
It’s hot out there! Here is a polished Brazilian quartz crystal with silver rutile glowing in the sun

I took this picture under the afternoon sun. I am going to go out to work in the garden after lunch but I wanted to post this first. It is hemimorphite from Mexico. I have had this piece for a very long time - ever since my son went off to college. It was very common many years ago, but I haven’t seen any like this at the gem and mineral shows for a very long time. I love the way the white hemimorphite crystals look against the reddish orange and black of the matrix. Glad I kept it
As the sun grows hotter here in my part of the world, this aesthetically sculptural golden selenite from Australia shows us a window into summer’s heart.
I have not had time to post much here - I’ve been very busy since my return from NC - but I thought I’d share this very cool Mexican agate geode that caught my eye at the Franklin gem show
I went over to see Max as he was setting up his Malachite and Gems of Africa booth at the GLW show in Franklin and snapped a few pics of the beauties he brought with him
Here are a few things that caught my eye as I walked through the show in Franklin
From the Hilltop show in Franklin - here is something I have been seeking for some time now. This is quartz with dioptase inclusions from Brazzaville, Congo. The pocket was discovered in 2023 and there is very little of this available anywhere. I have finally found some courtesy of my friend Rusty James. Can you guess which ones are coming home with me?
I made it to the Franklin Gem and Mineral Show. The first tent I visited was TJ’s Minerals. Here is a sampling of what’s inside.
I have several pieces of this wonderful combination of citrine, lepidolite, tourmaline and clevelandite from Minas Gerias, Brazil in my collection. It’s a great moon booster as it sparkles in the sun. I’m going to try to see the Northern lights tonight - several of my fellow Floridians were lucky enough to capture pictures last night. Last night was too cloudy at my house.
Thought I’d show off my raspberry garnet cluster from Mexico. Decent clusters are rare because the matrix is so friable that the clusters tend to fall apart. This one has remained stable for many years
My shoulder has been frozen for several days now so I cannot lift anything. I have been slowly working on clearing my house and moving the excess on to those who can use it but it is a long process. Even though it’s spring and energy is bursting out all around me, it is obviously a time of rest for me. This massive amphibole quartz point from the Zagi mountains of Pakistan once resided in the mineral museum of Tucson. The museum was closed down and many of the wonderful specimens were warehoused before they were resold at the Tucson gem and mineral show. This came back to Florida with me and now rests by my fireplace - earth fire.
I went to a party this afternoon for a dear friend’s birthday and dressed up for the occasion. It was nice to put on my jewelry for a change. This is a beautiful kunzite bracelet I wore with my purple labradorite pendant and aquamarine earrings. I have draped it over a large selenite sphere for the picture
It’s May Day and the sun is shining as all the green growing things burst into bloom. Butterflies are dancing all over my yard. The birds are ecstatic. I can feel the forces of life in motion. Let me share with all of you one of my personal favorites, this rare and fine quartz crystal from Vietnam. It comes from a small pocket that is now mined out, but I was fortunate enough to purchase a large lot of them and have been dispersing them to those who appreciate them. They are filled with golden rutile at the bottom. Red hematite and green chlorite combine to create a stunning phantom within it. Happy Beltane, everyone!
I am still in recovery mode and quite tired today, but I want to share this very sweet old stock green chlorite phantom quartz from Brazil. This was part of a collection I bought last year and I can tell that the person who collected it cherished every piece. Green chlorite phantom quartz is considered to be excellent for accessing the healing power within us by metaphysical folks. Here’s hoping it helps!
I call this my amethyst root. It is one of a pair. I haven’t been able to find out too much about them, but I know they are from Brazil and grew in a certain water-filled pocket underground. They are floaters, which means they were not attached to any matrix as they grew. Mysterious and wonderful
It’s a quartz kind of day for me today. The sky is absolute blue, the temperature is perfect and the moon is full tonight. This quartz crystal is from Brazil and I have had it in my collection for many years. There are no polished faces - it is completely natural
For the beauty of the Earth. This chrysocolla sphere from Peru is one of my longest and most heartfelt parts of my personal collection. It has been sitting on my mantelpiece for several decades now reminding me of our home planet in the vast universe, filled with life and infinite possibilities. Chrysocolla is a stone for all of us who honor the Earth and lift our voices to speak in her defense.
