I've been working on houses since I was 15. I can repair anything and thoroughly enjoy creating with wood. So here's a portfolio and way to contact me
Before and after replacing cedar shake and sille
I'm convinced shake style siding is the most tedious there is. Can only imagine if each line was a different shape making a pattern. I'll be real good at it by the end of this house :)
The mantle is looking really clean now with a fresh paint job!
Before and After
Got to redo a fireplace mantle for the first time. Planed down a slab for the mantle and made all the trim myself, used all the router bits 🙂 the tv will fit right in the frame. Can't wait to see what it looks like painted.
Got to put in some turn of the century style door trim yesterday and fix subpar work. I like to think the house is happier. Mudding that texture on uneven walls was brutal
Spent a long day assembling a cabinet and making a countertop and bookshelves.
Teak platform start and finish
Got to work with teak again. Replaced some rotten pieces and refinished this boat platform.
Some before and afters
Some finish shots of completely rebuilt wall and windows(sashless)
Been a min in the making but come a long way on my friend's victorian downtown. Completely gutted and rebuilt floor, walls and windows. Just built screens for the window frames, next thing is the hardest part, building wooden window sashes, especially the 6-lite mullioned tops! :)
Some milling shots and in between start and finish
Completed my first interior staircase handrail, made from white oak. Also made my first post from gluing smaller stock together. Was made to match upstairs rail. Had to drive to Jax and mill it all myself from roughcut lumber. Now the customer who just recently broke his hip can get up and down a lil safer :)
The steps to the steps
Can't call myself a good carpenter and a good son leaving Mom's steps looking like that! Good thing there's christmas presents 🙂
I really hate stripping old finishes, but wow the pay off on this is worth it, now I wont ever have to strip it again since it's sealed now with penetrating oils. Better protecting the wood and my brain cells :)
After 3 wet on wet coats(meaning mult.coats in one), finally found the tint we were after. Got the orange tint first, then added a bunch of brown pigment. 🙂
Days 1, 2, and 3 done all by lil ol me
I wouldve installed the sink if it wasnt delivered cracked, plumbing isnt my favorite and cutting tile dry is beyond brutal but had to get done
Building my first floating dock was a bit more fun than getting cut up stringing barbwire to keep a jumping bull in, and cutting tile dry to make room to install a vanity. Got another one coming up too, ill be a lil tanner next time you see me lol
Been working on this sweet Vagabond camper recently. Replaced 4 windows with 1/4 glass and poplar frames, 2 cabinet shelves, door frame, and sections of water damaged birch veneer. One of the nicest campers ive been in, love being surrounded by wood grain. Gonna be elegant when its done :)
First time I’ve gotten to work with teak, lovely stuff
Before and after on the door
Before and after
Scraped most of the old finish off with heat gun and putty knife, then had to do two coats of citristrip. Went over every square inch with scrapers, wire brushes, steel wool, multiple grits of sandpaper, and a sharp chisel in the corners of the luvers. Had a layer a mildew underneath I wet sanded with 15% vinegar to kill. Then added exterior finish penetrating oil with mildewcide to moisturize the wood and she’s happy now! I don’t think it gets any more tedious. Was like unearthing hidden treasure though. Now that teak gets to shine!
Believe it or not, it took me 8 long days in a row to refinish a 50 yr old teak door on a boat, along with crafting new frame pieces, replacing part of rotten wall with mahogany ply(forgot to take pics) and doing my first bit of upholstery ever. I won’t be overly enthused to strip any luver doors any time soon lol. It definitely needed it though, layer of mildew underneath the finishes, and the wood was really dry, was thirsty for the penetrating oil! Still to be puttied and varnished later by my pops. But here she is lookin fancy fresh!
Just another day, some fun angles on this one
