The D.C. Knox Club gathered to see the Washington Nationals vs. Chicago Cubs. "It was a fantastic day at Nationals Park, and I had a lot of fun meeting our D.C. alumni and friends," Director of Annual Giving Jim Burwitz shared.

The Old Main bell could be heard ringing, kicking off the 187th academic year at Knox! Opening Convocation featured inspiring words from faculty and student leaders, including Professor Cyn Kitchen and Student Senate President Sikandar Mateen ’26. September 11, 2001 was a day that changed the world. Today we pause and reflect to remember the thousands of people who lost their lives that day. We will never forget those who sacrificed their lives to save others, and we continue to honor their families and loved ones.

The last intercultural learning program offered this summer was taught by Jessa Dahl, assistant professor of history. Students worked together to create an interactive virtual heritage experience centered on an American Missionary School founded in Nagasaki in 1879.
Throughout this program, students took on roles as researchers, writers, modelers, interactive designers, and system engineers—gaining skills and experience in multiple areas.
This fall’s entering students make up the third-largest class in Knox history. They also set the record for the largest group of international students, as well as one of the largest classes of transfer students!
Here’s to breaking records and building the next generation of leaders. Let’s make this year unforgettable! 💜💛

Join Knox College for the last First Friday of the summer on Historic Seminary Street in Downtown Galesburg on Friday, September 6 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Browse the shops, taste the food, dance to the music, and don't forget to swing by the Knox booth for some free swag!
Professors Andy Civettini and Thomas Bell traveled to Chicago with students for a one month immersive experience.
Students held small internships throughout the program, including being placed with Knox alums and their companies, to develop a sense of what working in a large cosmopolitan city is like. They also explored cultural activities, neighborhoods, museums, and cultural centers.
The Knox community gathered in St. Louis for a send-off picnic with alumni, parents, current students, and incoming students. There were attendees from every decade between the 1970s to 2020s!
Alumni shared tips with new students—building excitement for Knox traditions like Pumphandle and Flunk Day—while parents connected and learned what to expect at Homecoming and Family and Friends Weekend.

Deconstructing Barbie was another summer Intercultural Learning Program taught by Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy Sami Seybold. In this course, students participated in analyzing Barbie-related texts and videos and visited the Chicago Art Museum where they explored the intersection of gender, art, politics, and activism. The final project allowed students to create a portfolio of two or more pieces in different mediums, reflecting their interpretations of what Barbie means to them.
to the Gale Scholars Alumni party! Earlier this summer Knox alumni who participated in the program gathered with the current Gale Scholars to connect, share their Knox experience, and reflect on their lives since then. The program is a collaboration with the local school district that selects 15 students to prepare them for higher education through academic and skill-building experiences.
And before we knew it, our fall athletes have started arriving on campus! The beginning of the fall term is just around the corner!

Middle Eastern Music in the United States was another summer Intercultural Learning Program taught by Visiting Assistant Professor Alyssa Mathias.
The program traveled to Chicago, IL and Dearborn, MI to explore the diversity of Middle Eastern cultural life and to participate in workshops with renowned musicians, visit cultural sites, and research at the Arab American National Museum.
