The opportunities here are endless compared to the path we had chosen down in Texas. As soon as we changed where we lived, a renewed sense of purpose came to us. From the moment we opened our store (we leased the space two weeks after we arrived and opened it on Black Friday – less than 30 days after moving 1000 miles from what had been our home for decades), we had a vision for something much bigger. We are acting on the vision we held so long. We are now inviting you to join us. We have been in the antiques and collectibles business for over 30 years. Just before Covid, in the fall of 2019, we closed our store front here to face a health diagnosis head on. During this time, our excitement has been like the graph of an EKG. Over the last couple of years while dealing with Troy’s diagnosis and symptoms of NASH, I often wondered how to take advantage of the opportunity we found after moving back to my small hometown in Illinois. Many of you know, we opened a store within a few weeks of moving up here. Our first day was Black Friday that year, at our little store in the Historic Seminary district of our downtown. Our background together has been in resale, antiquing, junking, re-do’s and shows.
While the store didn’t work out as intended, we did meet so many new friends and community leaders. We were only open a short time, and moved out near the end of our 1 year lease. We were welcomed by the community with open arms. I served on the Tourism Board for two years and was exposed to a side of the political workings of a small town, I didn’t even know existed. So many people working together to bring commerce and visitors to our area.
