๐ Huge shoutout to the Aggie Menโs Club! ๐
This incredible group of 28 college guys joined us in March and made an unforgettable impact by building 3 houses in just 4 days! ๐ ๐ ๐
Every morning started with heartfelt devotions, and every evening was filled with reflections that showed their deep faith and love for Jesus. โ๏ธโค๏ธ
Seeing their bond grow stronger and their hearts open wider as they served was such a blessing to witness. ๐
We canโt wait to see the Aggies back in 2025, bringing their energy, passion, and servant hearts with them! ๐ช๐ฅ

This is going to melt your heart: when our mission team boarded their flight to Guatemala this summer, they packed a little something extra in their bags. โค๏ธ
They brought Spanish versions of the History of Jesus to share with the children of Antigua. These books became treasures for the children, who gathered eagerly in the streets to listen to Bible stories. ๐โจ
The pure joy on their faces when they learned they could take these books home was indescribable. And when we handed some of these books to the mothers, their excitement and empowerment to share Christ with their children was truly moving. ๐
The most incredible part? Four children decided to give their lives to Christ on this trip. ๐ Praise God!!
Like this post, and drop a โค๏ธ in the comments below to let us know that you are praying for the continued impact these books will have on these children for years to come! ๐

On our mission trips, we encourage you to get interrupted. Yes, that's right. Get interrupted. โค๏ธ
When you look at the life of Jesus, He allowed Himself to be interrupted in big ways.
In John 8, Jesus was interrupted from preaching to go heal Jairus's daughter. On the way to heal her, He was interrupted AGAIN to heal a woman who had been bleeding for 12 years.
Jesus didnโt say, โActually, that wasnโt my plan for right now.โ Instead, Jesus welcomed the interruptions to provide compassion, love, and healing. ๐โจ
So, yeah. On our trips, we arenโt afraid to be interruptedโwe embrace interruptions as opportunities to glorify God. Even if that means putting down the hammer and nails to go dance and play with a little girl in the street.
Like this post if youโre down to get interrupted by the Spirit. Have you experienced this kind of interruption before? Let us know about it in the comments below. ๐

In Guatemala, the challenges are profound:
๐ 55.2% of the population lives in poverty.
๐ Over 1 million people survive on less than $1.90 a day.
๐ฝ๏ธ 46.5% of children face malnutrition.
๐๏ธ Many families endure living conditions with dirt floors and leaky roofs, breeding grounds for parasites and disease.
Yet, amidst these hardships, the joy of the Lord shines brightly. Walking the streets, we see children laughing and playing, moms gathering to share life, and people giving generously from their scarcity.
This year, over 1,000 volunteers have united to build 18 homes worldwide. But our volunteers do much more than build homesโthey are profoundly changed by the incredible people they meet and the resilient spirits they encounter.
Were you part of this incredible journey? Comment below and share your mission trip experience! ๐ If youโre inspired to join us in making a difference, drop a "โค๏ธ" in the comments, and weโll share how you can get involved.
Together, we can break the cycle of poverty, one home at a time. Because everyone deserves a safe place to call home. ๐ โค๏ธ
It is always a blessing to serve alongside Dream Streets, and we are so grateful for this opportunity we had to get to know and love Miss Queen!
๐ช๏ธ Today, our hearts are heavy as we reflect on the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Beryl in Jamaica. ๐ฏ๐ฒ
Hurricane Beryl, a category four storm, brought relentless winds and over 12 hours of heavy rain, severely impacting communities across Jamaica. ๐ง๏ธ๐จ
The storm's forceful winds and dangerous surges caused deaths and significant damage to homes, infrastructure, and agriculture. ๐๏ธ๐
We are grateful that our ministry partners are safe, but our hearts go out to them as they begin to recover from the devastation their country experienced. ๐๐

When Mission Discovery announced our first-ever trip to Costa Rica, we didn't know what to expect. Would people want to serve in this new opportunity? The answer was a resounding YES! ๐ 140 volunteers signed up for four summer trips, eager to make a difference. In May, we embarked on our inaugural mission with hearts full of love and anticipation.
And let us just tell you: this first Costa Rican mission team was absolutely INCREDIBLE. ๐
We partnered with Roblealto, a ministry that has been serving children in Costa Rica for nearly 100 years. Our focus was on renovating one of their playgrounds that hadnโt been updated in ten years, and the transformation was amazing. ๐
The children at Roblealto quickly grew to trust our team, forming strong emotional bonds in no time. As our time in Costa Rica came to an end, many tears were shed by both the children and our volunteers, a testament to the deep connections made during the mission. As volunteer Laura Moore shared, "This has been the most rewarding mission trip I have ever been on."
We canโt wait to bring more of our volunteers to Costa Rica and make a difference in the name of Christ. This is only the beginning! ๐โจ

๐ Do NOT skip this step when it comes to preparing for your mission trip. ๐
When you step onto the mission field, you are entering territory that God has been working in since the beginning of time, and you are committing to join Him in that work. ๐
He goes before us. He walks beside us. And, He will never leave us nor forsake us. ๐ถโโ๏ธ
We invite you to save this post and dedicate a specific time to regularly pray for your mission trip and prepare your heart and mind for the work that He is about to do through you and in you. ๐๏ธ
WARNING! โ ๏ธ If you come on a mission trip with us you may experience these side effects:
๐Youโll witness God move in ways like never before, and your faith will grow.
๐ซYour perspective on life will be forever changed for the better.
๐Youโll have a great time, and you will want to serve with us again ASAP!

Youโll never believe what this team did in just four days ๐
They built a much-needed wheelchair ramp for a woman who has struggled to get into her home for quite some time. ๐ ๏ธ
They rolled up their sleeves to help a church clear out their flood-damaged basement. ๐๏ธ
They served at a benevolence center that feeds countless homeless and elderly in Madison, TN daily. ๐ฅฃ
They spent time sorting through clothing donations for an organization that offers services to the Nashville area. ๐งฅ
And amidst all of these projects, they experimented with different ratios of peanut butter to jelly in a PBJ sandwich. ๐ฅช
By far, the greatest impact they had was the love of Christ they showcased daily. The way they spoke to one another and those they were serving even when the work days were long was inspiring. โค๏ธ
In John 13:35 Jesus said, โBy this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.โ
This group embodied Christโs love, becoming His hands and feet in Nashville, TN. ๐ฃ
๐ The biggest thing weโve learnedโฆ
Youโre never done learning.
Weโve been coordinating short-term mission trips for OVER 30 YEARS, and weโve learned quite a bit since way back when - but weโre nowhere near done.
These are four pillars that we share with every one of our volunteers - because they are so so important.
๐ We canโt tell you how often participants join us on mission trips expecting to meet the needs of others only to find that they themselves were the ones who were in need.
๐ Mission work isnโt just about going out there and โdoing.โ If you do too much without thinking and praying first, you can do A LOT of damage.
๐ Each of our 340 patients had the opportunity to get prayer from a team member after seeing a doctor and receiving their meds. Not one patient turned down prayer the whole week.
๐ Dozens of patients experienced miraculous healing when we prayed for a huge range of issues: everything from broken bones, infections, fevers, gout, long-term injuries, sciatica, locked-up shoulders, immobile fingers, and more.
๐ซ So many patients went from extreme pain to zero pain after a few short minutes of prayers.
Wes Pickering was on this trip as a worship leader. He now has so many testimonies of Godโs goodness. Here is one he shared with us:
โOne young guy came in who had pushed a woman and her child out of the way of a car. He got hit and broke his arm. The doctor and nurse on the trip said you could see where it was fractured. They told him he had to go into the city and get X-rays. He couldnโt close his hand at all and was in severe pain. Everyone was busy, and he was waiting for his meds. I sat next to him and started talking to him through Google Translate. I literally typed out the prayer. After one prayer his pain level went from like an 8 to a 6. We prayed again and it went from 6 to 2 and then again from 2 to zero. And he started opening and closing his hand with zero pain and zero restriction.
๐ I started typing in Google Translate, asking if he knew Jesus. Then the translator came over and just a few seconds in, the young guy started sobbing and crying. He repented of his sin and gave his life to Jesus. He told the translator, โI feel like 100 kilos just got lifted off of me!โ His tears turned to happy tears, and he kept saying, โGloria a Dios! Gloria a Dios!โ (Glory to God! Glory to God!)โ
๐Antigua, Guatemala
This week we have teams serving in Northern Ireland, Jamaica, Guatemala, Florida AND Nashville. ๐
And let us just tell you: God is SHOWING UP! ๐
We have seen people give their lives to Christ. Weโve seen homes built. Weโve seen the hungry fed. Weโve seen patients healed.๐ ๐ฒ
Transformation is happening world-wide. ๐

๐ This is a part of mission trip preparation that you CANNOT neglect.
โ ๏ธ The danger of culture shock is that it causes those it affects to want to isolate themselves and pull away from their teammates.
๐ค Thatโs why it is important to have a good understanding of culture shock before you step foot on the mission field. So much will be happening on your mission trip that without proper education and preparation, you may not realize you are experiencing culture shock until long after itโs begun.
๐ก Even if you yourself donโt experience culture shock on your mission trip, it is still good to be aware of how it works so that you can help those on your mission team who experience culture shock. This isnโt a battle that is easily fought alone.
๐ฌ Comment โCULTURE SHOCKโ below to get our free resource on navigating culture shock on short-term mission trips. ๐
Memories were made, tears were shed, and laughs were shared. โจ
Last week, we teamed up with LuHi and accomplished amazing things together through Christ. ๐
We fed the hungry ๐ฒ and created shelter for those in need ๐ . We shared the gospel ๐, and we made a difference. โ๏ธ
Mission Discovery family, this is only the beginning. God is MOVING in Guatemala this year. ๐
โThe Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lordโs favor.โ - Luke 4:18-19 ๐๏ธ
Going on a mission trip can be a life-changing experience. It offers an opportunity to serve others, learn about different cultures, and grow personally and spiritually. However, itโs essential to remember that your actions can significantly impact the communities youโre visiting. ๐
On every mission trip, we strive to go as learners, servants, and storytellers.
LEARNERS ๐
Our missionary teams come to discover what God is doing in the world and get involved. We come by invitation, not invasion. We come not to teach but to learn.
SERVANTS ๐
Our missionary work teams come not to be served but to serve in the same way the Lord Jesus Christ came as a servant and friend.
STORYTELLERS ๐
Everyone has a unique story to tell about his or her journey with God. We believe that your story is important in helping others. ๐
โI planted the seed, Apollos watered the plants, but God made you grow. Itโs not the one who plants or the one who waters who is at the center of this process but God, who makes things grow. Planting and watering are menial servant jobs at minimum wages. What makes them worth doing is the God we are serving. You happen to be Godโs field in which we are working.โ - 1 Corinthians 3: 5-9
๐ฑ๐ Did you know that we send mission teams to the same locations year after year?
Thatโs how we turn short-term mission trips into long-term impact.
When you sign up for a mission trip with Mission Discovery, know that you are contributing to a work that has been in place for over 30 years.
AND even when you return home, the work continues far beyond the week you serve.
Join us, and be a part of something larger than any one of us could do on our own. ๐ฑ๐

When on your mission trip, amidst the hustle and bustle of serving others, donโt forget to pause and cherish the little moments. โ๐
Shared laughs, quiet moments in nature, or seeing those around you serve with everything they have are memories that you wonโt want to forget. ๐๐
There is beauty in simplicity and the power of human connection. ๐ซ๐
So, as you dedicate yourself to making a difference, take time to savor the small joys along the way. Let us worry about the details.
We love getting to build homes for those in need. ๐ ๐
Shelter, safety, economic stability, and community development are all great things that come from providing homes. ๐ ๏ธ๐
But by far, our favorite part of building homes is that we get the opportunity to share the relationship of Jesus Christ with people around the world. ๐โ๏ธ
THAT'S what makes this all worth it for us. ๐ช๐
Together, weโre making a tangible difference and spreading His light. โจ
