I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve on the Galloway Township School District Board of Education. I will be completing my term of service in December and not seeking re-election. Over the last three years I have advocated for the arts, STEM, gifted and special education, reading programs aligned with research, clubs and student council. As a Board we navigated safely through the pandemic and hired a new superintendent. We worked together and accomplished great things. This year I accepted a position as a Visiting Professor at the College of New Jersey and that along with my commitment to my family requires much of my time.

I support the incumbent candidates along with write-in candidate Michael D’ADDARIO (this must be spelled exactly right for a write in) for Galloway Township BOE. I think it is important to have PARENTS OF CURRENT STUDENTS on the Board of Education.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Day 03/26/2021

March 26, 2021 is International Social Emotional Learning Day! Studies show that SEL delivers long-term improvements in skills, behavior, and academic performance while reducing anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. SEL competencies are also critically important for long-term success in today’s economy (from www.selday.org).

What is SEL?
Self-Awareness—My recognition of who I am, what I need and how I feel relative to the world around me.

Self-Management—My ability to manage my emotions and behaviors, to complete a task or succeed in a challenging situation.

Social Awareness—My demonstration of consideration for others and a desire to positively contribute to my community.

Relationship Skills—My ability to use positive communication and social skills to interact effectively with others.

Decision Making—My approach to problem solving that involves learning from others, from past experiences and using my values to guide my action and accepting responsibility for my decisions.

Personal Responsibility—My care and reliability in my actions.

Optimistic Thinking—My growth mindset, attitudes of confidence, hopefulness, and positive thinking.

Goal-Directed Behavior—My willingness to have increasing levels of independence and set and achieve goals that will help me to be successful.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Day SEL Day is an annual online event to showcase, promote, advocate and support social emotional learning in school and communities across the world.
