Lower eyelid retraction is a challenging complication that can develop after a cosmetic lower eyelid blepharoplasty. Factors such as proptosis and negative orbital vector may place patients at a higher risk for developing postblepharoplasty retraction. Rather than addressing this complication after it occurs postoperatively, this study focuses on preventing its occurrence through the use of primary eyelid spacer grafts during the initial blepharoplasty. Objectives The goal of this study was to review the outcomes of primary eyelid spacer graft placement during the initial cosmetic lower lid blepharoplasty. šŸ”—Read the paper: https://doi.org/10.1093/asj/sjad183 šŸ”—Read the Commentary: https://doi.org/10.1093/asj/sjad237 #AestheticSurgeryJournal #aestheticsurgery

According to previous studies, in lateral view, surgeons should improve the up-rotated and de-projected tip and short nasal bridge. 3D anthropometric analysis proves that our rhinoplasty procedure could bring the nasal appearance in the patients with BCLND closer to the normal aesthetic morphology. The current study provides evidence that the combination of the bilateral reverse-U flap and septal extension graft achieves favorable repositioning of the nasal tip.ā  ā  šŸ”—Read the paper: https://doi.org/10.1093/asj/sjae019

Addressing neck contouring with surgical and nonsurgical aesthetic procedures includes understanding the origin of platysmal banding. A theory was postulated to explain this phenomenon by isometric vs isotonic muscular contraction patterns. However, no scientific proof had been provided to date for its correctness. Objectives The aim of this study was to confirm the correctness of the platysmal banding theory based on isometric vs isotonic muscular contractions. šŸ”—Read the paper: https://doi.org/10.1093/asj/sjad216 šŸ”—Read the Commentary: https://doi.org/10.1093/asj/sjad329 #AestheticSurgeryJournal #aestheticsurgery

The volume and position of the buccal fat pad (BFP) change with age, which manifests as a hollow midface. Previous studies showed that autologous fat grafting for BFP augmentation could effectively ameliorate midfacial hollowing.ā  ā  Objectivesā  The aim of this study was to introduce a modified fat grafting technique for female patients with midfacial hollowing to restore the volume of BFP, and to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of this approach.ā  #AestheticSurgeryJournal #aestheticsurgery ā  šŸ”—Read the paper: https://doi.org/10.1093/asj/sjad214 šŸ”—Read the Commentary: https://doi.org/10.1093/asj/sjad284
