***DATE CHANGE***
Please mark your calanders and remember that we have changed the Date of .

Beginning this month we will be Walking on the Third Sunday of each month at 3pm.

Why we changed..

The 22nd was a significant date as it in lined with the 22 Veterans who had taken their lives each day. Sadly those numbers have changed and have increased higher then 22.

Safety- As the Walk the Bridge Movement has grown many of the places we walk have minimal lighting. Host at 630pm causes some safety issues.

Having the walk on a Sunday provides many, the opportunity to participate as it is not during the work week and people are not rushing from work to get to the participating location.

I want to thank everyone for the support in this change. Please let us know your feelings on this change.

Recovery Ranger Corps Ruck Club participated in the 12 Mile Star Course Dallas TX on Saturday JAN07 2023.

There was 10 points of check-in with a time cutoff of 5 hrs. RRC Ruck Club participated as a Solo which required a every-hour-on-the-hour check in to Cadre.

RRC Ruck Club was able to make all 10 points of check in; however, failed to make the 5 hour time by 15 min and was unable to achieve the GORUCK Star Course patch.

This was the first Star Course RRC Ruck Club has participated in. This was a great experience, as with RRC Ruck Club and RRC as a whole, the goal was to COMPLETE the course “together” rather than focus on the time. A patch is awesome to achieve but to be able to get the experience and the knowledge for this event was very humbling.

As with anything else Recovery Ranger Corps and RRC Ruck Club, our leaders lead by example by doing so that those who follow know that leadership is not about power but rather to empower.

RRC Ruck Club would like to thank GORUCK and Cadre Barbarossa and his Cadre help; all the participants of other GORUCKers and Clubs. Truly was a great time and we will continue to participate in GORUCK events.

SUA SPONTE.

13OCT2003. My last drink. I was truly at my lowest and had hit my “rock bottom”. Facing 37 years in federal prison, warrant on me from the FBI, on the run from the US Marshals and turning myself in to my attorney in Albuquerque NM, I was done.

That night, in a jail cell in solitary confinement; I realized that I missed my grandfather’s funeral, I was leaving my younger brother to face his senior year in high school alone, and I was leaving my wife alone. The most impactful was that my grandfather drank himself to do death, he left this world with alcohol in him and here I was, the first in our family to take our last name into prison. That night, I said to myself, “However long is given to me, I want to leave razor and fence better than I am now; I want to leave booze behind me.”

12 1/2 years later I left razor and fence. Faced some tough times upon getting out, but did not falter. I thank my wife today for her unwaivering support, my brothers for their belief in me, every native Brother that took time out of doing their time to talk with me. Creator for hearing my prayers and giving me this life to continue, for 19 years sober.
