We’re only ONE WEEK AWAY from Thanksgiving, so here’s your friendly reminder to start prepping your frozen turkey from WinCo Foods!

Safely thawing your frozen turkey is one of the most important steps in your Thanksgiving meal prep. We share two thawing methods: 1) Refrigerator thawing is preferred and the least labor-intensive, but requires more time; and 2) Cold water thawing takes less time, but require more attention.

Tag or share this with the person in charge of the Thanksgiving turkey

👉 REFRIGERATOR THAWING:
1. Thaw turkey breast side up, in an unopened wrapper on a tray in the fridge (40-degree F or below).
2. Allow at least one day of thawing for 4lbs. of turkey.
3. Keep turkey in original wrapper and place on tray.
4. Use turkey within four days after thawing.

👉 COLD WATER THAWING:
1. Thaw turkey breast side down, in an unopened wrapper, with enough cold water to cover your turkey completely.
2. Change water every 30 minutes and if turkey cannot be completely covered, rotate every30 minutes to keep the turkey chilled.
3. You can expect 30 minutes of thawing per pound of turkey.

Ingredients include: Cassia Cinnamon, Orange Peel, Lemon Peel, Anise Seed, Coriander Seed, Cloves and Black Pepper.

👉👉👉 Not familiar with Mulling Spice? You can use it to make a flavorful hot cider! Simply place the mulled cider pouch mix (add about 2 TBSP of the Mulling Spice in the middle of a cheesecloth square, if using regular cheesecloth cut the fabric into a 3"-4" square and gather edges together to form a pouch and tie with string to keep the spices in the pouch), in a large pot with 4 cups of apple cider and bring to a slow simmer. Simmer for 30 minutes then enjoy the spiced cider!
