A scene that I photographed last April that I just got around to working on this week. This spectacular wildflower bloom of balsamroot and lupine in the Columbia Hills in Washington was a pretty special morning as I was somehow all alone here. Mount Hood was looking pretty great and I used a couple different techniques to create this final photo seen here including focal length blending with my telephoto lens to bring the mountain closer than the small distorted size it was when shooting the flowers with my wide angle 14-24mm lens. The other technique was focus stacking for the flowers, which if you’ve ever been here in spring with the wind that sweeps these hillsides, it’s basically mission impossible to nail and properly blend together. Anyway here’s the final output for now. It’s good enough for small screens and social media but will still need some work for a large print.
