Press Release for Sunday November 5. 2023
Family Folklore Foundation, Inc. Presented a Glimpse….
‘Millenia of Progress
If houses could talk: 1933 Chicago World’s Fair-Y Tales’
https://lassensresort.org/about/
The panel consisted of Meg DeMakas, Rebecca Swerdon, and Annette Hansen, members of Family Folklore, who presented a glimpse of their grant project at the Cedar Lake Historical Society at Lasson’s Museum. The panel of presenters discussed the 1933 Chicago World’sFair and the Century of Progress homes that were relocated to Beverly Shores, Indiana. Not only was a wonderful PowerPoint presentation provided, but there were also paintings and hands-on student art projects, depicting the Beverly Shores’ homes.
The group will be presenting a live radio play on April 19, 2024, at 11 am at the Main Stage Theatre at Indiana University Northwest’s Arts and Science Building. At that time there will be music, visuals on the large silver screen, and people dressed up as the houses making their way from Chicago to Indiana. They will also be a book available about the project and an online version of the book.
All of the information was covered at the discussion at 2 o’clock last Sunday to a standing room only crowd! Famfolkfound.org
