This is a picture of a gas cap that has deteriorated in just a short time. The loose pieces you see had fallen into the fuel tank . This customer's complaint was that his mower would cut off and on. After looking at the mower, I found pieces of his gas cap in the bottom of his fuel tank. The pieces would move around in the fuel tank while in use, causing pieces to block the fuel outlet and causing the mower to cut off and on.
Moral to that story: every now and again, look in your fuel tank. You might be surprised what you find.

Did you ever want to know where the stuff goes that you run over with your mower?
It stays under the mower and wraps around very important parts. See picture and notice how this item is wrapped around the blade housing. This can cause a lot of expensive failures, for both push mowers and riders. Most of the time, it doesn't magically disappear.
