Blending Math and Art: Geneva Middle School North Math Teacher Philip Sewczwicz applies everyday experiences to math lessons. This semester, his math classes studied contemporary artist Ron Burkhardt who uses geometric shapes to form words called “Letterscapes.” Mr. Sewczwicz arranged for Mr. Burkhardt to talk to his class and even created a piece of art, “Geneva Vikings.” Then, each of Mr. Sewczwicz students created their own name with geometric shapes, too.
