FLX Culture House

“The Cultured One” was recently released, and is one of our three new long aged “complex” sours. The beers that came together to make this spent 3 and 4 years respectively aging slowly in wine barrels, deep underneath F.L.X. Table]

Brewing long aged sours has long been an obsession of and this golden sour certainly is one of the flagships. Based on a classic lambic, the base beers here were brewed from Belgian pale malt and unmalted wheat, and a dose of extra aged hops to provide bitterness and ensure limited hop aromas.

As the barrels age, each takes its beer on its own journey, and after years, each beer has its own very unique quality, which, brings us to the art of the blend. This beer was blended entirely from old golden sours, with an average age of 4.36 years of age. Each brought something unique to this beer, and each influenced the final blend tremendously.

This is a beer for the ages. We expect it will develop positively from the next 10-15 years.
