Our mission at Impact Counseling Services.

"But- isn't this rewarding bad behavior?"

And the 'this' is connection, or a snack, or a break...

This question makes sense but it assumes that kids behave good or bad based on the punishments or rewards they get.

Actually, kids do well if they are regulated, connected, and experiencing felt-safety.

Co-regulation is a right.

If I make a reel (or a TikTok?!?!) about this tomorrow, what do you want me to address?

Our fantastic therapists are returning to Georgetown ISD!

We are excited to be returning to our home campuses to continue to provide caring mental health care to our clients.

Intervention Services is carefully following Covid-19 safety protocols so we can provide caring support to our clients in a safe way.

If your child attends school in one of our contracted districts, we want to support them as they transition back to school!

As schools in the area start back (virtually or in person) stressors may go up as well. Need ways to check in with your kids about their school and stress levels?

Rather than asking "how was your day" and getting the typical "fine," ask specific questions.

What was something funny that happened today?

What was your favorite part of the day?

What do you need to do tonight to make sure things go smoothly tomorrow?

Don't forget that kids need time to be really seen and heard! Even when they want to disengage, try to set up some intentional family or one-on-one time to get into their world and connect in ways that they enjoy. Make dinner together, play a video game with them, take a walk.

Need help creating some new family rituals? Family therapy and parenting support are available at www.interventionservicespllc.com.
