This is the 4th quarter (getting close to year-end) reminder to start collecting W9 forms from vendors and contractors if you haven't collected them already!
If you use workers other than employees to perform services for your business and pay them $600 or more for the year, you are required to issue each one a Form 1099 after the end of the year to avoid facing the loss of the deduction for their labor and expenses.
The IRS requires a W-9 form as a means for you to obtain the data required to file 1099s for your vendors.

Batch working is highly-focused, a task-specific form of working. It is dividing your workflow into different days/hours of ONE TASK instead of jumping around from task to task.

No time to do your bookkeeping and everything else? Let's start with a couple of the most important tasks:
1. Review, pay, and record invoice payments to your customers and to your vendors and bills.
Without having this first step thoroughly checked for accuracy and completion, you risk making mistakes in subsequent monthly bookkeeping tasks.
2. Complete bank reconciliations for bank and credit card accounts.
Before moving on to anything else, you need to review the accuracy of your business cash and credit transactions in order to work with your exact cash position.
To do so, reconcile your bank accounts and credit cards at the close of each month, helping you easily find and amend any mistakes.
This can be done by reviewing your statements to flag any suspicious credits, debits, canceled transactions, or double charges.
Once you have thoroughly examined your monthly bank and credit statements and are confident in its accuracy, you can complete the rest of your monthly bookkeeping tasks.
