When using fertilizer any nutrients that can not be absorbed by the plants and soil will runoff with stormwater during the next rain event. Our drinking water, recreational areas, and aquatic ecosystems can all be harmed by excess fertilizers entering our waterways. We can all do our part to keep our waters free of chemical pollution that spring and summer by using water friendly tips. Visit www.respectourwaters.org/yard-chemicals and learn more!

We are anticipating work on a number of roads this year:
Division Road Conceptual Design and Community Engagement (Germantown DPW)
Maple Road from 1-41 to Appleton Avenue (Germantown DPW)
Donges Bay Road from Fond du Lac Avenue to Wasaukee Road (Germantown DPW)
Maple Road and Lannon Road intersection (WISDOT)
2024 Residential Road Program
2024 Road Sealcoating Program
Information regarding these projects can be found on the Germantown website, here:
Engineering | Germantown, WI - Official Website (germantownwi.gov)
Reconstruction of Donges Bay Road is scheduled to begin spring 2024. This work is anticipated to be completed in fall. The road from Fond du Lac Avenue to Washington Drive that pavement will be milled and overlayed with asphalt. The road from Washington Drive to Wasaukee Road will be reconstructed with new curb, gutter and pavement.
A detour is planned to begin this summer due to the replacement of the stream crossing structure, also known as a box culvert. During the box culvert replacement at the crossing of the Nor-X-Way channel, a detour will be in place for the “bridge out”. Traffic can detour onto Mequon (STH 167) or onto County Line Road (CTH Q) to navigate around this infrastructure improvement project. This detour is to remain in place for the duration of construction this summer until the road opens in fall 2024.
During construction, access to local residences and business will be maintained, however delays in travel are to be expected. It is recommended that travelers take a different route for their travels if possible. Final completion of construction is anticipated in fall of 2024.
The MOMS Club of Germantown will be selling hanging baskets in front of the library on
Saturday, May 11th
(the day before Mother's Day!)
Come and pick up a beautiful basket for a great cause!
All funds will go to the Germantown Community Library patio project and will be used specifically to purchase musical flowers in front of the library. Construction of the project will begin the week of May 20!
These musical flowers will be part of a memorial dedicated to the memory of Alison Bruno. Alison was a local mother of three who passed away last year after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sale is open until 3pm or until we sell out.
All baskets are 25 dollars. Cash and Venmo accepted.
If you are unable to make the sale but still wish to contribute, please see the gofundme page:
https://gofund.me/d0940a24
There will also be a kid's planting area where kids can plant their own flower pots. This activity is free of charge - but donations are very appreciated to support the Patio Project!
Understanding resources in your area are very important.

This year, May 5-11 is Public Service Recognition Week. Since 1985, the first full week in May is designated as the annual celebration of the contributions of public servants in federal, state, local, and tribal government.
Today, public servants continue to serve the American public even as government struggles to attract and retain talent. Critical jobs go unfilled in law enforcement, 911 call centers, public health, public transit, public finance, and other occupations. In March, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 492,000 vacancies in state and local government but only 182,000 hires. The ratio of vacancies to hires in state and local government is more than twice the comparable ratio in the private sector.
