Happy Sunday, Friends!!
I'm so happy to announce that Cindy's Country Store now carries Patricia Rich's book: Gettysburg - The Nature of the Battlefield.

Pat is not only a wonderful photographer, she is also a good friend! She is well known for her breathtaking photos of the Gettysburg monuments, farms, amazing sunsets and more. With this book, she has done a beautiful job capturing the beauty of the Gettysburg National Military Park with photos of the various plants and wildlife that can be seen while touring this hallowed ground.

I have this book and it is also a great reference for me when wondering about a specific flower or bird. The other thing I love about this book is the information regarding each plant including what the soldiers or pioneers may have used it for while here.

Please let me know if you would like to reserve a copy. My inventory is limited at the moment, but I can order more at any time.
Yes, I will ship this book to you!

Oh, and did I mention that Pat has signed each copy!?
Well, she has so that is an added personal bonus.

I hope everyone has a terrific day! See you all soon!!

Cindy 🌿

(Thank you for the beautiful flowers, Sandi. 😊)

Good morning, Friends!

I hope everyone is enjoying such a beautiful August day.

I would like to take a moment to extend my thoughts and prayers to all of the people that have been affected by the floods in CT. Ron and I have been thinking of you all, especially those in the valley and of course Naugatuck where we lived for 20 years and where I opened my first country shop.
The stories, videos and photos are absolutely heartbreaking.
Families have lost their homes, some small businesses will need a lot of time to recover from the damage, and many people needed to be rescued from cars and buildings due to the rising waters.
If the businesses are open, please stop by and support them. They will definitely need it. ❤
We hope the towns recover as quickly as possible from the devastation.

We will always be grateful to our CT friends for being by our side when we needed support. You will have it from us forever.

Thank you all for your time and please stay safe, healthy and positive.

Love, Cindy

Good morning!

Uh oh!! Autumn is closer than you think! I honestly can't fill the store with it while we have temps in the 90's, but I had to put a touch out of my favorite season.
I am sure this will be filled up by the end of the next week!
I'll be open today 11 - 6.

Also, if you are looking for something different to do, the World War II American Experience on Crooked Creek Road is having their third Annual Military Weekend event with vendors, reenactors, demonstrations, WWII veterans and more.

Good morning!!

I am sharing information for my good friend's country store.
The store is A Touch of Country in Durham, CT.

Yesterday a mother and her young daughter came into my shop in Gettysburg and they both told me that my shop reminded them of their favorite country store in CT. I asked which shop that was and she said, "Oh, it's in a little town. You probably never heard of it." I told her to try me. She said Durham and I said, "Oh that is A Touch of Country!"
It was a lot of fun talking about familiar places with them.

So, if any of my CT friends are looking for something to do this weekend, visit my friend's shop! A link to her shop is below.

Say hi to my friend when you visit! Thank you!

Have a terrific day!

Happy Weekend!!

The shop is open today at 11 so please stop by to say hi and choose your favorites! If anyone is traveling OR sees items in these photos and would like their purchases to be shipped, please let me know! Feel free to PM me.

Also, I want to thank Stephanie and Paula for making Gettysburg part of their road trip to visit me! I've known these two lovely ladies for over 20 years. They were frequent visitors to my shop in CT. It was a great surprise and shock when they walked through the door. It was wonderful catching up with them. I really miss my CT friends and LOVE when they stop by the shop. Thanks again to them and the others that have traveled off of their path just to fit me into their vacations! It means very much to me.
Gettysburg is a wonderful place to visit with so much to do and see. I hope you enjoyed your day here.

Have a terrific day and I hope to see everyone very soon!

Happy Saturday, Friends!

Make sure to stop by the Kitty Corner for some hot dogs, nachos and other good stuff!
This fundraiser helps the Forever Love Rescue on Queen Street!!

Now if you'll please forgive me for this personal post ahead, but I have to share something with you.

I was having "one of those mornings" trying to get out the door and finish things at home as best I could before starting my day here in the shop. I dropped everything I touched and there wasn't a piece of furniture that didn't jump out in front of my knee! My car AC doesn't work, and boy, it is steamy out there. The only parking space was under a thing that birds perch themselves on so I can only imagine the mess my poor car will be covered in when I leave tonight! You all can relate, huh? One of those "I should have stayed in bed" days!

However, sometimes the little things in life are those that can change a mood, help us to let it all go and tell us that everything is really okay.
When I got to my door a piece of paper was stuck in it. This is what I found 30 minutes ago and I haven't been able to stop crying since.

Thank you, Michael Cregan, my new dear friend. He is a retired New York City police officer that visits Gettysburg each year with his brothers on their birthdays. He is one of the most down-to-Earth, kind and yet entertaining person I ever met. Thanks, Mike, for your funny and unforgetful stories of your youth going to the old Yankee Stadium with your friends and rushing onto home plate after a historic homerun, the tale of your dad growing up in Ireland and then moving to America to pursue the dream, for being an old fashioned gentleman and kissing my hand, and for buying a little gift for your good friend. Meeting you was a pleasure and reminded me what this little shop of mine is all about which is the people that walk through that door.

No amount of money put into my register can replace that and I'll cherish this little piece of paper forever.
I'm so sorry I missed you to say goodbye. I hope our paths cross again.

God bless you.

Thank you all for your time and for putting up with my sappy posts. I think I'm more than a shop owner and "seller of stuff".
I want to share my stories for the few out there that may say, "Hey, that happened to me. I get how she feels."

Please feel free to share your own stories anytime with me.

Have a terrific Saturday!!

Cindy ❤

Good morning!!

I have a confession to make.
The shop was closed early so I could take the rest of the afternoon to enjoy some of the activities going on in town.
It was way too beautiful outside and I was feeling too healthy to stay inside! I do apologize for skipping out like that, but if there is one cliche that is very true, it's that life is way too short not to do some of the simple things in life that we want to do.

One of the things I stopped to see was the living history on the side lawn of the children's museum. If you get a chance, stop by and speak with Major General John Buford or watch the ladies do their fine crafts. It's never too late to learn new things.
One of the fun things that I noticed is that the some of the same reproduction linens and items at the displays can be purchased in my shop!

There are so many things to do here in Gettysburg especially this time of year. If you can take a "healthy day" off, take a ride and experience them. It's like going back in time.
It boosts my spirits to stroll through this wonderful little town, talk to other shop owners and the reenactors. It also helps me to appreciate the life I have.

If you have some extra time, stop by the shop and say hello!
I'll be open from noon until... whenever!

Enjoy this beautiful day and I'll see you soon!!
Thank you always for your time.

Good afternoon!
Attention shop owners in Gettysburg:
If anyone found or had a customer turn in a pair of prescription eyeglasses please feel free to call the shop or message me on FB.
They are in a teal colored Zenni Optical case.

A nice visitor from Ohio lost them and he really needs them to see!
They've been up and down our streets searching and I thought I'd help them out.
I know this may be a longshot, but you never know, right??

Thank you so much!
Have a terrific day!

Good morning!!

As much as I love my shop and being surrounded by the many great country items, my favorite thing about being a business owner is the relationships I've built over the many years.

It makes me so happy when I see my "old" friends from CT walk in my door!! Thank you to Pete and Marcella for making my shop a part of your Gettysburg vacation. It was wonderful spending time with you and catching up. What a great surprise!

Also... new signs and prints (all made in the USA) are on their way!

I hope everyone has a terrific day and I hope to see you all very soon!
