What is mushroom wood?
It originates from mushroom farms. The farms purchase the 1” rough sawn hemlock and use it to make “beds” to grow the mushrooms. The beds are filled with manure and mushroom spores for a period of 7 to 8 years. Hemlock is chosen because it can withstand the constant exposure to the moisture and temperature changes. Once the boards life span has been exhausted they are removed, pressure washed and brought back to the mill to dry in our kilns. The end result is a unique, organic reclaimed product that is ready for you next project!
