Please join us in welcoming Melissa Meyer to the Deer Lakes School District!

Mrs. Meyer is the High School's new Special Education English teacher. This will be her 10th year in education, and she is already familiar with Deer Lakes as she was the district's special education substitute during the 2023-2024 school year.

"I have met amazing people between the admin, staff, and students," Mrs. Meyer said. "Everyone is so welcoming, helpful, and supportive. I've coached Deer Lakes Youth Soccer for five years now and have formed great relationships with multiple families in the district. Deer Lakes makes you feel like one big family, and I am grateful for this opportunity."

Mrs. Meyer attended Luzerne County Community College and Slippery Rock University where she earned her Master of Education.

Mrs. Meyer's first grade teacher at Dallas Area School District was "amazing," and has had a long-lasting influence on her.

"She always supported me and taught me in ways that helped improve my learning," Mrs. Meyer said. "I was never good at just sitting and listening, I had to see or do. I guess that is what motivated me to become an educator - to teach a variety of students, on different levels, and in all different ways."

Mrs. Meyer said that watching students succeed is the most rewarding feeling.

"I love helping and watching children grow and do things they never imagined they could do," Mrs. Meyer said. "I have learned so much through my years of experience in education and can't wait to continue growing along with my students. I love finding their most unique qualities and using that in my teachings."

Registration closes at 11:59pm tonight! Teams will be announced next week via TeamSnap.

Don’t forget to come out tomorrow and support your youth Lancer teams in their 5v5 battles to glory!

We will have on site vendors that include a gourmet coffee truck, Kona Ice, and Northwest Designs Ink who will custom press apparel on site. On top of this we will have a 50/50 raffle and our concession stand open all day. The menu will include:

Pasquale's Pizza
Hot Dogs
Kielbasa with Kraut
Walking Tacos
Soft Pretzels
Buffalo Chicken Dip
plus a wide variety of drinks and snacks.

SAVE THE DATE!!!! We are hosting the Battle at Bairdford Soccer Tournament on Saturday, July 27th. This will be a 1 day event with age groups to include u8 - u18 with Silver (Rec teams) and Gold (Cup/Classic team) divisions. Format will be 5 vs. 5.

This tournament is open to any team that wants to participate.

Same rain, different day 😒 No practices tonight

Practices are still on for tonight with some slight modifications. u6 should be able to use the interior of fields 4 and 5. u8 will have stations located around field 1 and part of field 2.

u12 will have field 7 to share as field 6 is closed.

Even with the break in the rain, the fields have taken on too much water. Playing on them right now will cause severe damage that would take weeks to repair/heal. With the hopes of still playing our home games this weekend, we have to cancel practices at the Moskala fields this evening. Thank you for your understanding.

If you still need to pickup a player jersey, please come to the concession stand tonight from 5pm - 6pm and remember to bring your volunteer check post dated for June 15th.
