👨‍🏫 Often Sun scald appears where canker has damaged the bark or vise versa that canker grows where sun scald damaged the bark.

👨‍⚕️If you treat canker in ways you would treat sun scald then you are keeping moisture around the Canker fungus. For example wrapping a trunk for sun scald is good and wrapping a tree with canker disease is very bad🙅‍♂️ This will make it much worse and since it’s wrapped you will not see how much worse you are making it because you can’t see it under the wrap.

🌦️🌧️🏡🌲🌴🌳😁These rains are very good for plants. Many many plants/trees transpire during a rain from being induced to pull in the nutrients from the rain. The rain water mixed with the soil make nutrients bioavailability much higher in the soil. This causes transpiration and much like photosynthesis and process of diffusion occurs. This releases oxygen and moisture in the air from the plants/trees.

The rain can also feed fungi, disease and bacteria on the tree and in the soil. The rain also spreads these issues to other trees/plants. Is everyone buying a time release fertilizer that last up to 4 months? For a 3 times a year fertilizer plan. Micro nutrient fertilizer is the big nutrient deficiency in our soil. Most micro nutrient fertilizers don’t last 4 months. Plus who puts their citrus in a PH where they grow optimally? Soil amendment is needed to lower PH, raise the CEC “cation exchange capacity,” increase soil fertility, raise cation of nutrients, break up compacted soil, deeper water absorption and put the citrus tree in a soil environment it can thrive in this climate. If you only sit on the couch while eating fast food then is taking a multivitamin the answer. Or change the quality of food you eat and your living environment.

🌹🌸💐🌺🌻🥀🌼🪻Spring time means flowers but why🧐

👨‍🏫During the colder months plants/trees go dormant in making flowers because the cold conditions are not favorable to producing flowers. When weather warms the plants/trees come out of dormant growth like a bear coming out of hibernation they take in a large amount of nutrients “food.”

The over abundance of phosphate they pull in📈 is secreted by producing flowers🌸. If you feed them a high amount of phosphate at the end of winter then you will be rewarded with much much more blooms at the start of spring weather conditions 🌸💐🌼🌺🌹🪻🌻

High micronutrient fertilizer will effect the size, vitality and color vibrance of the blooms. I recommend a 🍊citrus fertilizer as they are usually higher in micronutrients than other fertilizers.

In winter trees go dormant and this makes them weaker because there defense is lowered to all ailments. This is a time that root rot and wilt Disease cause irreparable damage and sometimes death.

Wilt disease in trees is a disease that affects the xylem of a tree to not transfer water. This causes branches to suddenly die and as it feeds on live branches it spreads to another killing it as well. If you fertilize alone a tree with wilt disease many homeowners have experienced more die back of branches directly after pruning of affected branches. Treatment of the disease then followed by a high nutrient fertilizer is the best way to heal a tree with wilt disease. Bark Beatles and other wood eating insects carry the disease on them from tree to tree. It's a root disease so wind doesn't allow it to travel as it does other tree diseases. Citrus, ash, pine and fruitless pear are the trees I've seen most commonly affected by wilt disease. It can survive in almost all trees in the valley.

🌳🌿🌱All this rain has allowed gall bacteria to spread immensely ⚠️ There are several different damaging gall bacteria diseases. ☝️They are highly contagious.

Now after all the rain going into Spring time when trees/plants should be flourishing they are dying back or growth is greatly reduced.

Rainfall is its quickest and most effective way of transferring allowing the bacteria to travel wherever the rain water takes it.

Over the past few weeks I’ve come across several houses that have called to check if Gall bacteria disease is in a tree. When it was identified it commonly had already spread. This has spread all over the property killing stems in plants and trees. In some cases killing entire trees/plants. The bacteria can spread best during wet conditions in the soil spreading whereever the moisture in the soil connects. Meaning if your entire yard is wet, in these conditions it can spread to the entire yard.

A client I was at last week had to replace all her plants and a couple trees 2 years ago because of this. It came back and was killing all her new plants and trees. It can do this because it can survive in the soil. In her case she is certain it was brought in by a landscaper who didn’t properly clean their tools in between jobs and it transferred to everything they used their tools on.

It is treatable👍

This bacteria usually enters in from wounds on branches or roots and transfers thru out the entire tree or plant and onto other trees or plants. It is mainly transferable thru the soil as well. This is why when it spreads it spreads quickly. Also thru any other type of wound or wound made by insects. From cutting tools to cuts that untrained yard works make on trees and plants it can transfer from infected branch to next branch they cut. Tools need to be cleaned going from home to home. Otherwise someone else’s problem can become your problem as well. Keeping your trees/plants healthy can prevent this from happening. Stressed or unhealthy plant is usually where gall enters.

Gall forms on the tips of branches, along stems, trunks, roots and root crown.

Within a few weeks in can spread thru out the entire yard. If you see it on one plant or tree it is most likely on another. When crown gall enters thru the roots is when it seems to do the most damage quicker killing it’s host plant/tree.

Lantana and sage bushes are what is seen to be the most common pathogen in spreading this bacteria.

🌴Why are my queen palms fronds turning yellow?🤔😟

The biggest reason is a micro nutrient deficiency of Manganese in combination with our Al online soil causes leaves to turn yellow and die. This causes pre mature die back of fronds. This can cause the center frond to die this killing the palm tree⚠️☝️

I’ve had a lot of questions about leaf frizzle on queen palms. Yes it can kill the palm, it’s what killed most of the Queen palms and Pygmy palms when we had that real hot summer of 2019. It’s when the palm fronds frizzle wilt at the ends and often drow in dwarfed in comparison the the healthier fronds. They often have a diseased look to them🤒

It’s called Frizzle Top. In our high PH and pour quality soil this condition is common and if it kills the center frond which is it’s terminal bud then the palm dies. The wilt die back needs to be addressed ASAP to give your palm the best chance of survival.

It could have other issues as well but this disease can and will kill a branch or tree on its own. Canker attacks from the outside of the branch and goes to the xylem which is the ring that transfer mainly water. It girdles the xylem💧✋ like closing off a vein. This restricts the water sent past the infected area. By shutting off the water supply to braches and trunks😥 they show immediate health decline because no matter how much you water the canker only allows a small amount to pass or none at all.

If it’s on a major branch or trunk you will notice less healthy of a tree after those areas. If you see a red or amber sap oozing then it’s actively spread to other areas of the tree and other nearby trees. It’s pathogen is most commonly thru damaged wood being improper cuts, insects, damage from lawn mower/weed eater or other fungal areas like Phytophthora. It bring in another canker disease called sooty canker and this is kinda what it sounds like. It turns live wood to a black soot killing the branch it’s on. These diseases go undiagnosed and eventually not just kill branches but the entire tree.

☝️Cutting infected areas and then cutting another part of the tree will transfer the disease. Pruning is recommended after it’s treated and by a trained pruning professional to make proper cuts and clean there tools. Bark eating insects eat diseased and fungal wood so it is like a dinner bell for insects. It causes the outside bark to die and start to peak away from the tree. This is a place where insects lay there eggs. Many trees suffer from this disease.

👨‍🏫🌳😁👍 A common problem people are having with braches dying in there citrus trees in canker disease. Canker kills the outside bark causing a split and/or peel away look of the bark. Black soot like substance can occur under this bark which is another canker called sooty canker. Both damaging and both can spread easily if has improper cuts or damaged wood. A red amber sap is a sign the canker is actively spreading and can spread by birds touching the area and moving to another, insects or wind. I hope your trees don't have this issue but if it does I can help. With organic and pet/child safe treatment that I make and is exclusive to my company. Compacted soil causes puddling and the long standing water can also cause root rot. root rot can kill a tree in 10-14 days. First sign is yellowing leaves, heavy leaf drop to complete defoliation. Then the xylem and phloem stop sending nutrients and branches dry out to permanent wilt.

While it’s great to sleep under a tree during the day, it’s not recommended at night 🤔

👨‍🏫 During the day plants intake Carbon Dioxide and release oxygen. At night however plants absorbs oxygen and release Carbon Dioxide. The stomata never completely closes allowing diffusion at night. It’s a small amount of Carbon Dixide so lost do not tell a difference. If the tree is big enough and branches low enough than it can affect your respiratory system by absorbing the oxygen in the area then releasing carbon dioxide for you to intake💨
☝️🤒🌳A stressed tree can release more carbon dioxide than oxygen.
They still only emit about half the carbon dioxide so by emitting more oxygen and than carbon dioxide they remain a net carbon sink.

While some carbon is essential for humans this amount wouldn’t be recommended.

☝️Also trees go thru an activity cycle by relaxing at night. Leaves and branches relax as a tree stops absorbing sunlight and goes into its own relax cycle. This 1 hour after sunset and is referred to by many as the time trees sleep. 🌳💤

📈Trees grow mainly at night as midnight being the peak time because the VPD “Vapour Pressure Deficit” is the lowest time. High times the growth is limited.

As you know grass grows fast and every time a plant/tree grows it cleans bad oxygen and puts out good oxygen. Because grass grows so often it’s growth rate and leaf density makes 2500sq feet of grass be able to produce enough oxygen for a family of four.
