Dear Ascencion Solorsano Middle School Community,

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for our school community to contribute to the creation of our very first school mural. Your input is invaluable in shaping this artistic endeavor, and we invite you to join us for a special session dedicated to gathering your ideas and visions.

Date: Thursday, May 2
Time: 6:00PM - 7:30PM
Location: Multipurpose Room (MPR)

Renowned artist Mr. Fuchila will be leading this session, guiding us through the process and helping to channel our collective creativity into a stunning visual representation of our school spirit. This mural will not only beautify our campus but also serve as a reflection of our shared values and aspirations as a community.

Whether you’re a student, parent, faculty member, or part of our support staff, your perspective matters. We encourage everyone to come and share their thoughts, ideas, and inspirations for what our mural could represent. Let’s work together to make this mural a true reflection of the vibrant spirit of Ascencion Solorsano Middle School!

Refreshments will be provided, and all attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with Mr. Fuchila and contribute to the initial planning stages of this exciting project.

Ascencion Solorsano “The Healer”

Ascencion Solorsano was born in Gilroy in 1855. She was part of what is known today as the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band, and was an absolute force in her community, making her a perfect finale to our Women's History Month series. 📆👩🏽

Ascencion’s house was a place where community members came regularly for support and information exchange. Ascencion had listened carefully to the stories of her elders and ancestors and developed a wealth of knowledge of tribal history and culture, passing on traditions and lore to the next generation. She took on the responsibility of finding employment, food and medicine for members of the tribal band who needed her help. Her leadership in the first three decades of the 20th century played a critical role in the strength of the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band today. 🌱🌳
