The University of West London College of Music appointed Dr. Schwarz as Visiting Professor of Performance! In this role, Schwarz will give virtual classes covering a wide range of musical topics including traditional instrumental and chamber music coaching, lecturing on various aspects of performance, and working with LCM composition students and faculty.
"It is important that I maintain a global presence as a teacher and performer. London is arguably one of the great cultural centers for the Arts and having this appointment will benefit my Rowan students greatly," says Schwarz.
Our Director of Bands Dr. Higgins had the opportunity to conduct the The United States Air Force Band at the National Harbor Amphitheater this past weekend. Dr. Higgins conducted "Highlights from Star Trek" by composer Michael Giacchino as part of the Salute the Sunset summer music series.
The concert was presented by the United States Air Force Band under the direction of Captain David Regner.

As the second prize winner. Dr. Cheng will return Romania to conduct a concert at the Oradea Philharmonic Orchestra next year.

Bassist Douglas Mapp is at home in many styles of music ranging from classical to jazz and Broadway to contemporary classical. The list of artists that he has performed, recorded and toured with includes Philip Glass, Michael Nyman, Donnie McClurkin, Richard Smallwood, Natalie Cole, Randy Brecker, Sean Jones, Ernie Watts, Lana Del Rey, Earth Wind and Fire, R Kelly, and Jeff Majors. He is a regular member of the Vezinho/Ward Big Band
He is the principal bassist of the Reading Symphony and Assistant Principal of the Delaware Symphony. He performs regularly with some of the regions premiere ensembles including the Pennsylvania Ballet, the Philly Pops, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, The Relâche Ensemble, Orchestra 2001, Opera Philadelphia, and the Harrisburg Symphony. He has performed as substitute bassist with the Philadelphia Orchestra both at home and on tour. He has performed as a soloist with many of the groups with which he performs, including his spring 2015 performance of the Bottesini Grand Duo Concertante with the Reading Symphony.
His publishing company, Douglas Mapp Music has been helping bassists to solve the age-old dilemma of solo versus orchestra tuning for over twenty years with piano parts written in keys that fit with standard orchestral tuning. He is a past-president of the International Society of Bassists and chaired the 2015 ISB convention at Colorado State University.
