June is ! So all throughout this month, I’m going to share my tips & tricks regarding acne: how to treat during & after (pigmentation)! Those close to me know that I’ve had my own battle with acne, and I’ve conquered it for the past year 😌
Acne is no joke or walk in the park, it unfortunately is a process that requires tons of patience as it takes time to heal. Swipe to see my own struggles if you dare.. the top pics are dated July 6, 2020 & the bottom pics are dated June 9, 2021.
Here are my first round of tips 😊
• Use Chemical Exfoliants: These are your AHAs (lactic, glycolic, mandelic, tartaric, citric) & BHAs (salicylic/willow bark)
The step to exfoliating that I’ve noticed many people skip is EASING into exfoliants. When you first begin exfoliating, you need to slowly incorporate it into your routine 1-2x a week so your skin gets used to it. This helps acne bc it brings about your new skin into the surface, so in my own words, a layer of the acne sheds
• Ask your local about LED therapy. Blue Light Therapy has antimicrobial effects that assist with the killing of acne-causing bacteria. Green Light Therapy has calming & healing effects that reduce hyperpigmentation/dark spots caused by acne (& also just any type of pigmentation). Green LED Therapy is something to consider after your acne has healed!
• WEAR YOUR SPF: whether you have acne or not, you need to be wearing spf! BUT acne-wise, wearing SPF brightens up your post acne marks and helps with the healing process!
