This weekend is ACU's first large ensemble concert of the season !! Exploring the joy that music brings to our lives, the first concert of the season contains both celebration and contemplation. The program begins with “Come to the Music.” Next, “The Awakening” for choir and orchestra by Joseph Martin describes a world of silence, then erupts into the joyous exclamation, “Let music never die in me, forever let my spirit sing, let music live!” The orchestra will play Beethoven’s powerful “Egmont Overture,” a short Haydn symphony, and other rousing favorites. As the finale, the combined ensembles will perform “If Music be the Food of Love, Sing On!” Professor and concertmaster Meghan Ruel is selling tickets on campus (office 119 in the music department) Visit pmaz.org for tickets or call (623) 326-5172.
