In Loving Memory of Hripsime Hovsepyan (1951 — 2024)

We have lost a dear friend, wonderful teacher, and vivacious lady in the passing of Hripsime Hovsepyan. Hripsime joined the LARK family in the year 2000 and was later named chair of the piano department. Throughout her years as a music educator, she loved to witness the metamorphosis of each of her students and how, through her guidance, they achieved success in transitioning from piano students to mature performers — some of whom would go on to institutes such as the Colburn School and Moscow Conservatory, after graduating. During lessons, student and teacher would express their thoughts and ideas through the realm of music, enriching both their inner world as well as their technical ability. This experience is what Hripsime knew and defined as happiness — “Երջանկությունը՝ երաժշտության հետ մտերիմ լինելն է”.

A memorial service will be held tomorrow, March 22nd at noon at St. Mary’s Armenian Church in Glendale. We will miss our Hripsime dearly. Our prayers and deep condolences go to her family.

The Lark family proudly bestowed Lark’s 5th St Nerces Shnorhali Medal of Honor to Onnik and Kristine Keshishian in celebration of Dr. Keshishian’s 91st birth anniversary.

It was an honor to perform for the 21st Annual Armenian Genocide Commemorative concert at the Alex Theatre last Sunday. This event honors the 1.5 million men, women, and children who perished 107 years ago, and is a reminder to us all that such atrocities can be prevented if we work together to understand cultural differences and find acceptance. Lark thanks the City of Glendale and the Alex Theater for helping bring to life a magical evening with our performers dedicated to the memory of Komitas! The evening was a celebration of the survival of the Armenian Culture and the human spirit. May it serve as a reminder of how fragile life is and how important it is to become vigilant against hatred and injustice.
