In November, 2023, Detroit, MI, celebrated the first electrified road in the US.

Electrified roads eliminate the need for electric vehicles (EV) to charge regularly. For this to work, the EV must be equipped with an approved receiver. The road transfers electricity wirelessly through a magnetic field. Then the electricity is converted into energy for the EV’s battery. The electrified road can charge an EV no matter if it’s moving or parked.

Did you know holiday trees are 100% recyclable!? After Athens collects the trees, they are delivered to various landfills to be used as mulch or cover material, or to Athens’ American Organics compost facility in Victorville.
⭐️Tips to ensure your tree is properly collected:
1. Remove stands, ornaments, lights and tinsel.
2. Place holiday trees next to your regular trash containers.
3. Trees over 6 feet in length must be cut in half.
4. Trees with flocking or fire retardants ARE NOT acceptable.
5. If you miss the date for recycling, please cut up your tree and place it in your yard waste container(s).
