Start off the summer with pride at this exciting show returning for its 2nd year in downtown Deerfield! In partnership with the Village of Deerfield, the Deerfield Art Festival takes place on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 (10 am to 5 pm each day) and features 80+ juried artists showcasing and selling their unique pieces including paintings, photography, ceramics, furniture, jewelry, wood, fiber and more - a wonderful opportunity to purchase original art for your home, your office or yourself!

Live music, activities for kids in the Kids Art Zone including a new self-portrait project, “Start to Paint” on-site painting classes, selfie stations, and the very popular “Kids Art Stop” where artists welcome children to stop at their booth to learn more about the art-making process, add to the family-friendly vibe of this event. Festival food on site and several restaurants just steps away from the artists’ booths ensure that no one goes hungry!

Admission is free, there is plenty of free parking, and the festival grounds (which are near the METRA station) are wheel-friendly with access for wheelchairs and strollers.

Attendees are invited to bring their gently used wall art to the festival where it will be donated to the Chicago Furniture Bank, a nonprofit that distributes furnishings and art to those leaving shelters and moving into permanent housing. Several artists from this show are participating in Amdur Productions’ Green Ribbon Project. Artists place a green ribbon on a piece of art in their booth, and if the piece is sold, 10% of the sale will be donated to Amdur’s charitable partner, which is the Chicago Furniture Bank.

Check out our FREE Get Out and Go Nature Treasure Hunt on June 2, at 10 am. Follow our treasure map through the natural areas of Gallery Park and Air Station Prairie/Tyner Center. Walk or ride your bicycles and earn stamps for answering questions about discoveries you make along the way. The treasure hunt ends at the Tyner Center, where you can learn about being green and enjoy a tasty treat!

The Glenview Police Department is aware of numerous scams that have surfaced relating to the tragic death of 17-year-old Glenbrook South student Marko Niketic on Sunday, May 12, in Glenview. Marko's family has not authorized, organized or participated in any Facebook or Go Fund Me pages to solicit donations. The Department is working to have these pages removed. If you come across any request to donate money, please report it to Go Fund Me or Facebook directly as a scam. If you have already donated money to a Go Fund Me page, you should immediately request a refund through the website and report the page as a scam.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the Niketic family and all those who knew and loved Marko.
Our prayers go out to the other people in the crash, two of whom were last listed in critical condition.

Suburban high school releases message after student 'tragically' killed in car crash The victim, 17-year-old Marko Niketic, of Glenview, was a senior at Glenbrook South High School, a letter from the school said.
