Mya-Moe Ukuleles

3 Days Away! Hope to see my Wisconsin friends this weekend at the Oshkosh UkeFest. Mya-Moe will be there with some handcrafted ukuleles to sample. Fun Fact, Mya-Moe luthier, Cary Kelly, is a Wisconsin native. Born in Manitowoc.

David’s Tenor Long Neck is all done. This guy features the Lost Tunnel Redwood for its soundboard. Salvaged from an old mining shaft, this redwood has very straight, tight grain lines. It’s a bit brighter in tone than some of the more standard redwood and it has some brilliant sustain. I’ve got 2 sets of this special redwood left, so reach out to me directly if you’re interested in a custom built ukulele.

I’ve been offline for awhile, but simply had to share some pics of Bill’s Rosewood and Spruce tenor. This guy has a poly high gloss finish. But I still finish the neck with a satin hand-rubbed oil. This keeps the neck feeling silky smooth as you play the ukulele. It’s a bit more work to do it this way, but playability remains a key tenant in my building philosophy.

Was fortunate to get a visit recently from Karl Jackson aka One-Hand Strum Man for a little cleanup and restringing on his custom concert resonator, Topaz.

The very first visitor to the new Mya-Moe shop was Steve, in to pick up his custom Curly Myrtle Tenor.

The last ukulele finished in the shop at 1121 Depot St, a torrefied spruce and walnut baritone. Move is in process and I’m very excited about the new shop. Stay tuned for details.

Black & White Ebony is no longer offered for custom builds as I don’t keep sets of this wood in stock, but I did have a really nice set left that was only big enough for a soprano so I built this super soprano (soprano body with concert scale neck).
