Gloucester Youth Leadership Council had an amazing time volunteering with Art Haven last week! The team got to organize and create thank you cards for all the amazing buoys that were made!

Last week the Good Trouble Public Health group from O’Maley planted a tree outside of the school, with their adult facilitator Dan Liebert! Do you know youth that are doing great things let us know so we can promote them!

While holiday/seasonal depression may cast a temporary shadow, it doesn't define your entire season. By acknowledging your feelings, seeking support, and practicing self-care, you can find moments of light and joy amidst the darkness. Never be afraid to check in with your loved ones and tell them how much you care.

Our Gloucester Youth Leadership Council had a great field trip to Sky Zone today! We are proud of our youth leaders for being positive representatives of our community

Interested in joining GYLC ? Want to go on cool trips once a month and have some awesome volunteering hours? TONIGHT is our Middle School meeting at CAY (YMCA) 3:30pm!

Last week our leaders worked with the Gloucester 400th to measure trees! Our mission was to find the oldest tree in Gloucester and the oldest we found was 245 years old!

Yesterday we had an amazing speaker go to GHS and speak with the students and he was amazing! Thank you to Wes Woodson, Amy Kamm, Officer Scola, Mental Health Ambassadors, and the entire School. We had an amazing time and hope to do this again in the future! If you or someone you know needs support now, call or text 988.

October is Youth Substance Use Prevention Month and Substance Misuse Prevention Month. Get Involved!

This year, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is celebrating the 10th anniversary of “Talk. They Hear You.®” and looking ahead to SAMHSA’s 20th Prevention Day. Prevention strengthens protective factors and reduces risk factors ― in individuals, families, schools, communities, and across society. Prevention science, and decades of community-based experience and scientific research, shows that prevention works.

Youth and young adults are powerful agents of change for substance use prevention. SAMHSA’s youth engagement initiatives aim to:
-Give youth and young adults a voice and platform to inform and influence the development of substance use prevention programs that speak to them and meet them where they are;
-Engage young people in peer activities that educate and empower them to make good choices about alcohol and drugs, and their future; and
-Provide opportunities for youth and young adults to develop leadership skills and learn about careers in prevention and other behavioral health fields.

Gloucester Youth Leadership Councils Middle School group will be meeting from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Cape Ann YMCA. If you are interested in making a difference in your community and you are in grades 6th through 8th come stop by and start making a difference.

Gloucester Youth Leadership Councils High School group will be meeting from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Cape Ann YMCA. If you are interested in making a difference in your community and you are in grades 9th through 12th come stop by and start making a difference.

The CAM Teen Council is hosting a Teen Fright Night on the 20th from 6pm to 8pm at the Cape Ann Museum.
