We had a successful shakedown sail with training for the new crew. First time we've been under sail since September! Capt. Christa Miller-Shelley and Peter Bent were delighted to see how the new jib, rudder and propeller affected the handling of the ship. And our wonderful office staff managed to have a productive meeting aboard while underway. Not a bad place to work!

We had an incredible night last Thursday at our annual Knockabout Rockabout. Two hundred people filled the Cruiseport with laughter, love for Adventure, and paddles waving high in the air.

It's such a thrill to see how many people are passionate about our mission, and how generously they invest in our future.

Thank you to everyone who came!

Private Schooner Sail for LGBTQ+ Youth and Friends 06/01/2024

We are thrilled and deeply touched at the hard work put in by Cape Ann Pride Coalition and Awesome Gloucester to get this funding to help support our Pride youth sail at the end of the month.

This sail is part of our second annual Gloucester Sails! project - also funded by the Gloucester 400+. During Fiesta weekend we'll also be taking out folks from Gloucester Housing Authority and Wellspring House.

Adventure is committed to offering free sails to people who might not otherwise have an opportunity to get out on the water, or who could use a little respite from the day-to-day grind. In the past two summers we've taken out cancer patients, Alzheimer's caregivers, wounded veterans and more. Contact us if you have ideas for other deserving groups (and sponsorship ideas too!).

A Bit of Rain Could Not Dampen Our Spirits
Schooner Adventure's new crew and volunteers are connecting very nicely as a team. Thursday morning we were busy preparing the vessel for the upcoming sailing season. Deck boxes are loaded with life jackets. The generators are in good order. We motored out in the afternoon for more training with vessel underway operations, as well as a fire drill.

With our partners at Gloucester Housing Authority, Wellspring, and Cape Ann Pride, we'll be opening our decks to folks who've never had a chance to sail before, let alone on a 122' historic schooner.
