It's Monday and on Mondays we like to shine a light on partner organizations that are making the world a better place day in and day out. FATHER Project Minnesota does just that!

The FATHER (Fostering Actions To Help Earnings and Responsibility) Project's mission is to assist fathers in overcoming the barriers that prevent them from supporting their children economically and emotionally.

Founded in 1999 by the City of Minneapolis, the FATHER Project became a program of Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota in 2004. Since then, the FATHER Project has served thousands of fathers through an extensive network of community partners.

Valley is proud to partner with the FATHER Project MN and help them continue the amazing work that they do. If you would like to learn more about FATHER Project MN, you can do so by checking out their socials or visiting their website (link in bio).

It has been a busy busy week at Valley! The Sanctuary renovation project is well underway. All of the pews were removed on Monday and placed in their new summer homes: the Cornerstone Room and Nursery.

A team from Coit was in the Fellowship Hall on Wednesday morning giving all of the folding chairs and pew pads a long overdue rinse and clean!

And the asbestos abatement crew arrived Thursday to seal off the Sanctuary and begin the removal of all of the old, cracked asbestos tile! We will all be able to breathe a little easier knowing we're worshipping in a cleaner space come August of September.

The last photo is a sneak peak of our worship space for the summer, full of so many of our cherished Sanctuary pieces. See you Sunday!

It's almost time for Fridays in the Valley! Join us THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 9th, at 7pm right here at Valley! Or catch the concert via livestream.

We are excited to welcome the Marimba Bullies back to Fridays in the Valley for the final concert of the 2023-2024 season!

The Twin Cities-based Marimba Bullies, comprised of members David Birrow, Al Epp, James Holdman, Adam Rappel, and Carey Sirianni, play upbeat, high-energy music on diatonic marimbas. Their sound is built on the rhythmically complex music of the African mbira, as played by the Shona people of Zimbabwe. The Bullies’ repertoire includes traditional African tunes, music composed specifically for the ensemble, and arrangements of popular Western music. All these influences combine to create the lively, danceable, fun style that is unmistakably the Marimba Bullies.

As always, Fridays in the Valley concerts are free and open to all. There will be a free will offering to benefit The FATHER Project Minnesota as this month's featured local non-profit. For more information about this charity, please visit:

Concert program and livestreaming will be available the day of the concert.

June is LGBTQIA+ Pride month! Thanks be to God for a world full of people who are perfectly and awesomely made. This month may we honor, celebrate, and recognize the impact that LGBTQIA+ individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally - often times at a great cost.

To kick it off, we’re sharing an excerpt from the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) 223rd General Assembly (2018) item, “On Celebrating the Gifts of People of Diverse Sexual Orientations and Gender Identities in the Life of the Church."

It's a big Sunday coming up in the Valley! This Sunday, May 19, is Pentecost Sunday. On the Day of Pentecost, we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit descending in a mighty rush of wind and flame to inspire the church’s proclamation of Christ’s rising and to empower its mission and ministry to the world. Pentecost marks the end of the Easter season. At Valley, we wear red to celebrate Pentecost!

Following worship, we will take a break for cupcakes (it is the Church's birthday and the day before Valley's birthday, after all!) and then head back into the Sanctuary for the second of three Listening Sessions. Please plan to stay for this important information gathering session. We need to hear from you as we move forward in the process of finding our next called pastor.

Have you heard about Clare Housing? We are proud to partner with Clare Housing and support their mission and invaluable work in the community.

Clare Housing provides a continuum of affordable and supportive housing options that create healing communities and optimize the health of people living with HIV. Their vision is an AIDS-free world based on equitable access to housing and healthcare. Valley volunteers support this mission in many ways such as providing supplies for new residents to furnish and outfit their homes. We also organize events once or twice a year for the Clare Housing community. This Saturday a group of volunteers will be there for a BBQ with residents! It is a blessing to support this vital work in any way we can.

If you would like to learn more about Clare Housing, you can do so by checking out their socials or visiting their website: https://www.clarehousing.org/
