So, you’re curious about the difference between a toxin and a toxicant?
Great question! Toxins are naturally occurring poisons produced by living organisms like plants, animals, and bacteria. For example, snake venom and certain bacterial toxins disrupt or destroy our cells—think of snake venom destroying red blood cells or bacterial toxins causing tissue damage. Historically, everything harmful was called a toxin until the late 19th century.
On the other hand, toxicants are synthetic, human-made chemicals that emerged with industrialization, especially in the 1930s and 40s with pesticides. Toxicants are everywhere—carcinogens like asbestos or endocrine disruptors like Bisphenol A, which are found in many household products. Unlike natural toxins that destroy or disrupt cellular activity, toxicants often make bodily processes work differently, which can be detrimental. For instance, toxicants can cause cells to multiply abnormally, leading to cancer, or interfere with hormones, causing issues like early puberty, heart disease, and infertility.
At our practice, we understand the significant impact both toxins and toxicants can have on your health. That’s why we specialize in deep, comprehensive programs designed to help your body eliminate these harmful substances. By addressing these issues, we can help improve conditions like fatigue, brain fog, digestive problems, aches and pains, sleep issues, and overall well-being. If you’re tired of feeling less than your best, let’s chat about how we can support your journey to better health!"
