In preparation for NC Freedom Fest, downtown streets will close in two phases — at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. — on Saturday, Sept. 9.

**The following streets will be closed at 8 a.m.:
■ Northbound and southbound lanes of Center Street from Chestnut Street to Pine Street

**The following streets will be closed at 10 a.m.:
■ Northbound and southbound lanes of Center Street from Ash Street to Chestnut Street
■ Spruce Street between Center and James streets
■ Chestnut Street between James and John streets

**As of 10 a.m. Sept. 9, the following streets will be closed:
■ Center Street from Mulberry Street to Pine Street
■ Spruce Street between Center and James streets
■ James Street from Spruce Street to Chestnut streets
■ Chestnut Street from James Street to John streets

All streets will reopen at 10 p.m.

Cars parked on these streets once the closings go into effect will be towed at the owner's expense. In addition to this, keep in mind that if you drive down the side roads toward Center Street after 10 a.m., you may not be able to turn around.

Signs (see image) will be posted throughout the affected area.
