Happy July! Today we had a special visit from the outreach team at the Wildlife World Zoo. We got to meet a tortoise, a snake, a bearded lizard, and an echidna. We are having a great summer of learning!

Today we had a very special presentation about China and panda bears from fabulous Goddard parents, Ben and Allison Mills, and Ben's mom, Nana Linda. We practiced saying hello (nǐ hǎo) and thank you (xiè xiè) in Chinese and found the location of China on a globe. We read a book about pandas, sang fun panda-themed songs, and learned about panda’s favorite food – bamboo! Students received a fun panda bracelet and some panda cookies to take home. What a special presentation. Thank you Ben, Linda, and Allison for sharing your culture, knowledge, and time with us! 🐼

Thank you Great Arizona Puppet Theater and Delta Dental of Arizona for teaching our students about taking care of their teeth! Students loved watching "Little Dino's Baby Tooth" as part of our week learning about ways we take care of ourselves. Students loved the show and their goodie bags. One of our three year old friends walked out of school today telling his mom about flossing! 🦷🦕😁

Today we had special visitors from Maricopa County Environmental Services who taught us about mosquitoes. Students loved learning fun facts about mosquitoes as well as tips for preventing and repelling them.

Congratulations to our amazing Dragonflies Pre-K Lead Teacher, Ms. Sabrina, on completion of her coursework for her Child Development Associate degree. We are so proud to have Ms. Sabrina as a part of our faculty and our school community!

This week our students are exploring the question "What can I invent?" and each classroom will be showcasing an invention later this week. To help inspire our young learners, we had our first character visit of the summer from Alexander Graham Bell who brought one of his inventions - a metal detector. Kudos to our very own Education Director, Mr. Ryan, for helping bringing learning to life in a fun way for our students.

The Goddard School of Alexandria (Old Town), VA, is now open! Congratulations to owners Akhil and Madhu Govil. This is the fourth location for the co-owners, who also own The Goddard School of Ashburn, The Goddard School of Ashburn Leesburg, and The Goddard School of Waldorf.

As owners & grandparents, their goal is to continue to provide a foundation of learning to all the young children in Alexandria who are the beacon of the great future. They are excited for the opportunity and look forward to serving the Old Town Alexandria community.

Today was our first Wednesday Water Day of summer! ☀️💦

We welcomed the first day of our summer program with a special treat! The pure joy and smiles melted our hearts faster than the heat could melt the ice cream. This is going to be an amazing summer of fun and learning!

The Goddard School of Bel Air received a special visit from former Goddard grads! This preschool class is where their friendships all began 💗 Thirteen years later and their preschool teacher, Miss Sarah, still teaches in the same classroom they all attended.

What a fun week we've had celebrating our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten graduates! A very special shout out to the amazing teachers who made this such a memorable year for their students - Ms. Sabrina and Ms. Hannah (Pre-K Dragonflies), Ms. Kim and Ms. Teresa (Pre-K Butterflies), and Ms. Diane (Kinder Hummingbirds). We were so busy celebrating, we didn't get many pictures. We'd love to see yours so please tag us The Goddard School. Congratulations to the Class of 2024!

Join us in celebrating Ms. Kim's 14th Anniversary at our school! She has been our Brilliant Butterflies Lead Pre-K Teacher since 2010 and has made a HUGE difference in the lives of hundreds of children. Not to mention the impact she has had on the teachers she has mentored. She is a vital part of our Goddard community and we are so thrilled to have her at our school. Here is her first ever faculty picture from 2010 and a picture from this week when when of her first graduates EmmaLee returned in her high school cap & gown to share her accomplishment with one of her first and favorite teachers. We love you, Ms. Kim!

Today we hosted the Grand Opening of our new outdoor area, our Goddard Garden. This space will provide rich learning opportunities for students as well as provide a peaceful respite for our school community. It will also serve as a place of remembrance for special friends and family no longer with us. We look forward to all the memories to be made in this beautiful space. A special thank you to Mr. Ryan for his vision and design of the space and to Mr. Sam for making this dream of ours a reality through his hard work, creativity, and dedication.

Day 4 of Teacher Appreciation Week brought us a huge spread of breakfast goodies donated by our generous Goddard families and on Day 5 we enjoyed a visit from our friends at Zombie Brew! Thank you to all the students who joined us in pajamas yesterday and in flannel or plaid today. We had so much fun this week celebrating our teachers. We are so blessed to have THE BEST faculty, students, families, and Goddard community!
