What is Focused Shockwave Therapy?

Focused Shockwave Therapy (FESWT) involves the application of a concentrated and intense burst of energy to a specific target area. This specialized form of treatment utilizes acoustic shockwaves to stimulate healing and promote therapeutic effects. Focused shockwave has been proven to be beneficial for various musculoskeletal and inflammatory conditions.

Expectations of Shockwave Therapy

Pain Reduction - FESWT is used to alleviate pain associated with various musculoskeletal conditions, such as tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, chronic lower back pain, sciatica, and much more. Patients can expect a reduction in pain levels as the therapy promotes healing and tissue regeneration.
Improved Function - For conditions affecting mobility and function, FESWT aims to improve overall functionality. This may include increased range of motion, improved ease of movement, and enhanced performance in daily activities
Tissue Healing - FESWT is known to promote the healing process in damaged tissues. It stimulates and up-regulates the body's natural healing mechanisms, leading to tissue regeneration and repair.
Minimal Side Effects - FESWT is generally considered safe with minimal side effects. Patients may experience mild discomfort during the procedure, but this is usually temporary.
Gradual Improvement โ€“ While some experience immediate improvement, the effects of FESWT may not be immediate, and multiple sessions may be required for optimal results. Patients should have realistic expectations and understand that improvement may occur gradually throughout the treatment regimen. Shockwave is often coupled with Guided Exercise, Physical Therapy, or Massage Therapy for the best outcome.
Treatment Duration โ€“ The typical treatment dosage is 2000-4000 pulses, which equates to 15 minutes in total. Recommended treatment duration is 3-5 sessions per target area.

How much does it cost?

We offer competitive prices for Shockwave treatment.

1 for $100

3 for $275

5 for $460

10 for $950

Patient Testimonials:

"So far I am very pleased with the results of my treatment. I can get up in the morning with much less discomfort and I can do all of the daily activities I usually do. And now I am even slowly getting back to running. Hopefully, I will be able to gradually extend my running time and intensity". ~ Tom (Plantar Fasciitis)

"Soon after the treatment, I am 90% pain-free in the treated area. I am very happy with my ESWT. Before the treatment, I was in intense pain. Now I can see myself playing tennis several months from now. The ESWT Technician made me feel comfortable. In addition, his post-therapy directions were very clear and precise". ~ Marlene (Shoulder)

DOES INSURANCE COVER THE TREATMENTS?
This is NOT an โ€œinsurance-coveredโ€ service and all treatment sessions must be paid for by the patient.

How to Manage My Painful Back
Healthy content that matters, helping prevent injuries
_________________________________________________________
I hope this newsletter finds you in good health and spirits. Today, I want to address a common concern that many of you may be experiencing โ€“ mechanical back pain. It's a prevalent issue, and understanding its nature and effective management strategies is crucial for your overall well-being.
What is Mechanical Back Pain?
Mechanical back pain refers to discomfort or pain in the spine caused by the way the spine moves or is positioned. Unlike other types of back pain, it is not associated with serious conditions such as infection, fracture, or inflammatory disorders. Instead, it is often linked to everyday activities, poor posture, and overuse of the spine.
Symptoms of Mechanical Back Pain:
- Dull, aching pain in the lower back๏ฟฝ- Pain that worsens with certain movements or activities - Stiffness in the morning or after prolonged sitting or standing๏ฟฝ- Discomfort that eases with rest๏ฟฝ- Limited range of motion especially in certain positions or postures
Management Strategies:
1. Pain Relief:
Over-the-counter pain medications like acetaminophen or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can provide relief. However, it's essential to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any medication regimen.
2. Ice and Heat Therapy:
Applying ice or heat to the affected area can help alleviate pain and reduce inflammation. Use ice during the initial 48 hours after onset and switch to heat thereafter.
3. Physical Therapy:
A tailored exercise program designed by a physical therapist can significantly improve your condition. Strengthening exercises, stretching, and core stabilization exercises are commonly prescribed to enhance the stability of the spine.
4. Change your posture:
Provcation of your back commonly occurs when you are in unsustainable positions that your body cannot maintain, Take frequent breaks out of those postures and incorporate workplace controls such as a standing desk, a step stool, or as simple as sitting or standing after prolonged periods.
Rehabilitation Protocols:
1. Core Strengthening:
Research has consistently shown that strengthening the core muscles, including the abdominals and lower back, is effective in reducing mechanical back pain (Hicks et al., 2019).
2. Flexibility Exercises:
Engaging in regular stretching exercises, especially those targeting the hamstrings and hip flexors, can improve flexibility and reduce stress on the lower back (Shiri et al., 2018).
3. Ergonomics:
Maintaining proper posture during daily activities, such as sitting at a desk or lifting objects, is crucial. Ergonomic adjustments can significantly reduce the risk of recurrent mechanical back pain (Hoy et al., 2012).
Preventing Recurrence:
1. Mindful Movement:
Being conscious of your body mechanics during daily activities can prevent unnecessary strain on the spine. Lift with your legs, not your back, and avoid prolonged periods of sitting.
2. Regular Exercise:
Engaging in regular physical activity, such as walking, swimming, or yoga, can contribute to overall spinal health and reduce the risk of recurrent back pain (Searle et al., 2015).
Conclusion:
Mechanical back pain is a common ailment, but with the right approach, it can be effectively managed and even prevented. If you're experiencing persistent or severe pain,
it's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation and personalized treatment plan.
Wishing you a healthy and pain-free journey ahead!

Is the burning pain from making your summer hotter? Here are some ideas on managing it.

Exercise
Once patients understand the condition and are able to move a little better with less pain, exercise often enters the treatment picture. Research has shown that low to moderate intensity aerobic exercise like walking, biking, or swimming is important in managing fibromyalgia symptoms. It can help with pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, depression, and more. Physical therapists and patients work together to find the right type of exercise and the right intensity to best manage fibromyalgia. They often have to start slow, and make adjustments along the way. Each physical therapy session is tailored to the needs of the patient and will vary depending on the severity of their symptoms. Despite there still being no cure for fibromyalgia, physical therapists can help with pain management, strength, mobility, fatigue and function to help patients find relief from their symptoms.
