As you can see from the photo, my client had a band from previous permanent color. She came in for a lightening service several months later (as you can see from the several inches of virgin hair at the top) and we talked about the possibility of this happening. It’s important to inform clients what can possibly happen so they understand that there is a chance that something relatively simple can turn into a color correction.

Why does this happen? Our hair has several layers like an onion. Lightener peels back those layers, exposing everything that’s underneath. When you put permanent color on your hair, you’re adding a few more layers to that onion. Therefore, the virgin and previously lightened hair has less layers, but the mid shaft has a few more. It becomes a color correction because your stylist will either have to put different strengths of Lightner on each section of your hair, or apply lightener to your entire head and then go back to each foil and reapply on the mid shaft in hopes that it will get equally as light as it did everywhere else. It’s extremely time consuming! At this point we can only hope that the mid shaft will get as light as it did everywhere else (if the hair can handle it), so that client can achieve the level of brightness that they want. Fingers crossed!!

If your stylist ever let you know that it could be a quite a process to achieve an overall lighter color because you have a previous color history… This is what they mean. We want nothing more than for our clients to get exactly what they want! Hopefully this helps You guys understand a little bit of the science as to why sometimes being blonde isn’t so easy ♥️ remain patient with your stylist and trust them in the process! Xoxo

Let’s talk about going into pools/oceans with extensions✨
•
If your my client you’ve probably heard me say “well you are a human!” I want you to live your best life and jump in the ocean or a pool and feel like a mermaid with your extensions.. I get it! I’ve done it! Here is some cons and helpful tips on what to after the fact 🖤
•
Cons- Your extensions are EXPENSIVE! So let’s take care of them! Chemicals from pools and the salt from the ocean will really dry out your hair and fade your color. Also if you’re a blonde… it will most likely become very brassy. If you know you’ll be getting them wet.. I would suggest jumping in the shower and spraying in leave-in conditioner before you go. This will prevent your extensions from absorbing too much chlorine! Just keep in mind that the more time you spend in the pool or large bodies of water.. the less time you’ll have that set of extensions. You’ll most likely have to purchase new ones sooner!

DO NOT SLEEP WITH CHLORINE IN YOUR HAIR! Once you come home you need to shampoo and condition immediately! I recommend clarifying and then a deep conditioner. The clarifier will remove the chemical build up and the deep conditioning will replace the moisture!

I have gone in the pool with my extensions one time!! Just one! I don’t recommend it, but if you do hopefully these tools and knowledge will help!❤️✨💁🏻‍♀️

That one time we made her blonde in one (very long) day, & by the time we finished the sun started going down! We tried all the angles to try and capture the sunset glow, w/o casting too many shadows. Best part of these photos is how accurately it captures the tones of blonde in natural sun light 🌞
