The Gothenburg Improvement Company was established in 1961 beginning an organized effort to recruit businesses and people to the community.
It was such an honor to celebrate a couple of former GIC board members and two outstanding businesses that have made incredible contributions to Gothenburg's business community during the annual awards ceremony last week.

Gothenburg Improvement Company invites the public to a community celebration as they announce a $750 million business investment in Gothenburg on Wednesday, June 28. This electrolyzer-based liquid fertilizer facility is the largest single private investment west of Lincoln in recent memory. A free lunch will be served from 1-2 pm. The program begins at 2 pm with remarks from Gov. Jim Pillen and other dignitaries. The celebration will take place in the new Wearparts building in Gothenburg’s industrial park.
Congratulations to Gothenburg Community Playhouse/Sun Theatre, Gothenburg YMCA and Verlin Janssen for receiving GIC's annual economic development awards last week. Gothenburg is an outstanding community because of the work these folks do to make it the best!

FOR SALE: Workforce Housing Homes Hit The Market Back in April 2021, the Gothenburg Improvement Company (GIC) received the news that their application for grant funds toward workforce housing development in the community had been approved.
GIC has been working diligently to recruit businesses and industries to the industrial park. A new Wearparts facility is currently under construction with more projects on the horizon.

The loans will be made primarily for fixed assets to provide opportunities for startup and existing businesses. Contact the Community Development Office for application materials.
