Grounded Yoga & Wellness
Grounded Yoga & Wellness believes that yoga is about connection & unity, health & wellness, accessibility & presence. Breathe. Connect. Ground.
We strive to create this atmosphere by having a warm, welcoming studio environment.
We are THRILLED to announce our first-ever Yoga Teacher Training.
Starting in March of 2025, Becca & Alyssa will be guiding an 8-month deep dive into yoga, covering topics from lineage & philosophy to anatomy & adaptive yoga.
Becca & Alyssa hold a combined 800 hours of yoga training, ranging from traditional vinyasa to yin & restorative, trauma-informed, and prenatal specific practices. As studio owners, they believe in creating safe, informed practices that allow clients to meet themselves where they are, which will be the central focus of the training. We are confident that after our teacher training, you will leave prepared to teach a breath-centered, trauma-informed practice that is adaptive to meet the unique needs of your clients.

Similar to Sister Circle, this offering will be a time to gather with other women, reflect, and share around how we can find our center again when moving through hardship in our relationships.
This co-led event will be a blend of Becca’s ability to create a safe container for women to be witnessed, and Melissa’s ability to bring clarity to how we can find ourselves again as we move through relational thresholds that can be difficult to cross.

March Musings from our latest newsletter + our current class event lists!
When we moved into our historical home in the fall, my kids were eager to explore all of the outbuildings on the property. Built in 1851, they were sure to find some interesting things. A day or so after moving, my kids came running into the house with old letters they had found in one of the barn attics. Dating from the early 1900s and with torn edges on stained paper, these notes felt like a real-life treasure to them, which naturally propelled them into asking things like, “Do you think they hid anything else on the property? Do you think they had a secret room somewhere? Who do you think the letters were from? Was it someone important?”
On and on and on their imaginations weaved a scenario of what could have been, as they ran off in search of more hidden mysteries. Of course, not digging to find actual gold, but to find more pieces of someone else’s life. A glimpse into the “what was” of another time.
I eventually read the notes they brought to me, and if I am being honest, there was nothing spectacular about them. Really, they just were mundane updates about the farm and the family, with no real significant details.
But even with boring day-to-day details, the writings of someone else’s life felt like a treasure to me, too.
I still find myself reflecting on what it is that makes something feel important. I also find myself observing my children, so fully engaged in what’s in front of them. The mud. The water. The snack. All seemingly insignificant from the perspective of an onlooker, but a full-on experience for the child who’s in it.
As adults, we can lose sight of what’s in front of us as we get so caught up in the need to do, and when the regular day-to-day doing isn’t enough, we then turn it into the need to do something of significance. A future task or goal always ahead of us, bigger or better than the last one we accomplished.
But what about the gift of simply existing?
Taking note of the sound of your child’s laugh.
Your friend’s face when you tell them something funny.
How good that pot of soup was that someone made you.
The small, seemingly meaningless things that show up in our daily lives. What if that’s what our days were filled with? What if that’s what we took note of?
Could that be important enough?
Because when our time here ends, and someone stumbles upon the artifacts of our life, they’ll find meaning in the fact that we simply existed.
Allow yourself the gift of simply showing up this month.
With love,
Becca

__
Though I am not a fan of resolutions, I am a naturally goal-oriented person. Sometimes I put things on my to-do list that I have already done for the day, just so I can cross them off.
Recently, my husband and I decided to make it a goal to not eat out for thirty days. We had just come off of a really busy month, and noticed we had spent a lot of money on frantically-made food decisions, so we dedicated ourselves to thirty days of recentering with meals at home.
About two weeks in, as luck would have it, we lost power at our house for a little over a day. It was during consecutive days with wind chills in the negative-teens. “Dedicated” to our goal, I began to think about how we could make a fire outside so that we could cook food.
In negative temperatures.
With 30 mile per hour winds.
(Sharing that I actually thought about how we might do this makes me blush with embarrassment.)
It just so happened that I had my Saturday morning yoga class during this power outage at my house, so I was sharing this anecdote with my class. I was wrestling with how I was going to feed my kids for the day, without eating out. Partway through sharing, I had an epiphone that I shared out loud:
“I think the lesson for me here is to give myself some grace.”
This simple little test from nature was a reminder for me that we often confuse “dedication” with rigidity.
We rarely set a goal for ourselves and allow grace to be alongside it.
And then when we hit a rough patch or our needs change, as we all know is destined to happen from time to time, we beat ourselves up over our inability to “stick to it.” Or, we force ourselves to stick with it, just to say we did it, even if it’s accompanied with misery on the other side.
When I pause to think about this idea of goals without grace, I have come to realize that I have never met anyone in my entire life whom I have thought, “if they could just be a little harder on themselves, a little more rigid, they might make it.”
But, countless are the number of people I have met and thought, “if they could just give themselves a bit of grace…”
My practice on my mat also boils down to this same idea.
Am I showing myself grace? Moving with grace? Transitioning from pose to pose, with grace?
Without fail, when I am not, is when I fall.
But when I pause and connect back with grace, I pick up right where I left off.
May you find a bit of grace this month,
Becca
P.S. The power came back on at my house minutes before I got home from class to pick up my family and go get breakfast. We went to Check Please anyway and enjoyed a nice, warm meal in a nice, warm place, and have since picked up our goal (with a side of grace) right where we left off. 😉
