Essential duties (other duties may be assigned):
• Evaluate and implement treatment programs of substance abuse
• Conduct individual and group outpatient therapy
• Involvement with discharge planning
• Appropriately refer clients for higher levels of care or additional mental health counseling
• Working with MAT clients
• Maintain records and reports as required
• Knowledge and adherence to client's rights
• Assist clients as they work toward their treatment goals and recovery efforts
• Attend regular staff meetings
• Attend annual trainings to maintain skills and to secure new knowledge and information
Alarus Healthcare is looking for great counselors to join our team! The Mental Health Clinician provides counseling services for children, adolescents and adults. The Mental Health Clinician performs client and/or community focused resource coordination activities to ensure clients and/or community members receive comprehensive care. This position requires a person with knowledge of multiple clinical mental health modalities, and ability to communicate effectively with families. Day or evening positions available. 1:1 sessions or facilitating groups. Clinician must also have background and knowledge of trauma and experience with trauma-informed care. Ideal candidates have AODA experience and desire to work with AODA as well as mental health clients. Clinician must possess training and group facilitation skills, knowledge of related community resources, and the ability to collaborate with other community organizations and agencies. Supervision for in-training clinicians included.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
• Receives referrals and interviews clients to obtain a history of the problem.
• Assumes a caseload involving clients with personal and social behavior problems, providing counseling services utilizing a variety of treatment modalities on an individual, group, and family basis to meet the needs of the client(s).
• Participates as a member of the clinic team in diagnostic formulations and implementation of treatment plans with clients and families.
• Interprets nature of illness and prescribed course of treatment to clients and families.
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships with clients, staff, and variety of mental health, community, AODA and social services agencies.
• Participates in staff development programs.
Contacts a variety of mental health, AODA, community and social service agencies.
• Serves as a liaison and consultant to social service, mental health, AODA and community agencies.
• Maintains detailed case records and reports as required.
• Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
• Wisconsin Mental Health full or training license required or the ability to obtain a license with job offer.
• Considerable knowledge of mental health and AODA casework principles and treatment modalities.
• Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and techniques used in the field of mental health, AODA and clinical social work.
• Working knowledge of social service and health services.
• Ability to provide skilled social and psychotherapeutic treatment to clients in need of services.
• Ability to interpret mental illness and AODA issues as well as diagnose and offer treatment to clients and families.
• Ability to participate in diagnostic decisions and treatment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, and the general public.
• Working knowledge of the understanding of objectives of alcohol and other drug abuse treatment programs.
• Working knowledge of trauma-informed care – certification in trauma treatment a plus.
• May require some evening hours.
