Doing Something Beautiful: When asked, "When you are presented with an opportunity, what do you do with it?" Melinda French Gates response: "Create more opportunities." I know that everyone in the Sapahn club and I are here for that response!

For most of us, having access to that amount of wealth would mean we won the lottery. We are talking about so much money it will for sure take care of you and your next generations of kin. So, when given an opportunity to share your wealth like Melinda Gates, what would you do with it??? (TELL US BELOW)

I always think back to the idea of winning the lottery. I’m not alone - I know. Right before you buy that ticket, you imagine yourself winning, and then what? Your life would completely change. What do you dream about in those moments?

For me, it's a mixed bag of emotions. On one hand, it terrifies me. Would I lose my drive to push when things get hard — does this amount of money make quitting too easy?

On the other hand, I'm thrilled about the opportunities this resource could bring. For years, I've envisioned sending friends a mysterious invite with plane tickets and a brief note about our travel dates, inviting them on a two-week secret mission. They'd know the city but not the details, and we'd all meet at the airport. From there, we'd be taken by boat to a private island to celebrate, connect, ideate, and plan impactful initiatives tied to human rights. The dream is to gather the coolest, innovative, thoughtful people we've met over the years to brainstorm on spending billions on good causes in addition to some initiatives with our tannery to bring a better water purification system to life, a training program for artisans throughout rural Thailand, entrepreneurial abroad experiences to Southeast Asia, etc.

In reality, this isn't far from what Melinda Gates is doing. She’s reinvesting in women through a grant to 12 people, including Jacinda Ardern, Allyson Felix, and Shabana Basij-Rasikh, giving them a $20 million grant-making fund to distribute as they see fit, stating, "I’m eager to see the landscape of funding opportunities through their eyes, and the results their approaches unlock," French Gates said. This approach honors our unique differences and experiences in such a beautiful, thoughtful way.
