They spoke of Isabella County, where the dad lived, but his mom, Brandi, and stepdad Brian live right here in West Michigan, in my neighborhood. Please join in lifting my neighbors up in your prayers, and help support them through what is an unimaginable nightmare. SOLAR ECLIPSE - DRIVING TIPS

Solar eclipse timing across West Michigan is set to begin between 1:50 p.m. and 2 p.m. and conclude between 4:20 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The time of peak coverage in the Grand Rapids area is projected for 3:11 p.m. - As cool as this will be to witness, we want everyone staying safe on the roads! Here are some important driving tips from the Michigan State Police:

Avoid travel during the height of the eclipse, if at all possible.
Don't park along the highway or park on the shoulder in order to view the eclipse. To view, exit the roadway and find a safe place to park.
Do not take photos while driving.
Do not wear eclipse glasses while driving.
Watch for pedestrians, especially on secondary roads.
If you must travel, turn on your headlights and don't rely on automatic headlights.
If you’re planning to watch the eclipse, remember to protect your eyes with certified solar viewing glasses. Regular sunglasses won't cut it!
