Carolyn Striho’s music has been described as written “from the silver edge of midnight” (All-Music Guide, USA). Wildly original and highly regarded as one of the city’s best singer/songwriters, Carolyn’s also an award-winning musician, performer, and poet. From her early days in Detroit art rock/punk rock to her current soulful music, Carolyn’s alluring vocal delivery with a rock and roll folk baroque is hypnotizing.

She was on the Grammy Awards First Ballot 2024 for Best American Roots Song/Performance for “The Bridge” w/Erin Zindle (mixed by Jamie Candoloro of REM and Luscious Jackson), 2022 Grammy Awards First Ballot for Best Spoken Word Album (for her “Detroit (Maiden Energy)”) and 2018 Grammy Awards First Ballot for Best Rock Album. Carolyn has 11 Detroit Music Awards for albums, songwriting, singing, musicianship and performance.

Carolyn’s toured and worked with poet/rock icon/singer Patti Smith in Michigan, Toronto, Lollapalooza and London U.K. She’s performed with Don Was/Was (Not Was), Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Slits, Ramones, Iggy Pop, and with Yoko Ono, Steve Earle, Tori Amos, Sinead O'Connor, Yoko Ono in London, U.K. and more. Carolyn’s performed three tours of Italy, played at Isle of Wight, U.K., London U.K. at Royal Festival Hall and Hope and Anchor and performed for two months in Japan.

She was featured in “Hit Girls: Women in Punk” which was in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Revolutionary Women’s Exhibit. And there’s a new release with Carolyn’s former Detroit Energy Asylum which she fronted on vocals with renowned saxophonist Dave McMurray and Grammy/Oscar award-winning keyboardist Luis Resto on Orchide Records.

In the meantime, Carolyn and her husband/guitarist Scott Dailey are debuting dazzling new songs this year, which are receiving sweet airplay on NPR and stations around the country. Stay tuned!

Hackensaw Boys “Love What You Do” 20th Anniversary Tour~ Friday, November 15 at Tip Top!

For over 20 years, Hackensaw Boys have plowed the asphalt, bringing their raw, gritty version of American roots music to the venues and streets that originally inspired them. Born in Virginia, along the same routes as fellow road warriors/street buskers Old Crow Medicine Show, Hackensaw Boys have at times operated more as a collective than a band, sometimes boasting up to twenty members. Whats kept them together is a burning hot vision of American roots music brought kicking and screaming into a new age, fueled as much by a rowdy punk spirit as by the traditional masters that first inspired them.​Known best for their rowdy, energetic live shows, the collective has played all over the globe and at some of the top festivals including Bonnaroo, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, All Good Festival and Bergenfest, to name just a few.

A brassy country singer whose retro style garnered comparisons to singers like Natalie Maines and Kasey Chambers, Sunny Sweeney is a native Texan, possessed of an expressive reedy contralto; it is perfectly suited for everything from h***y tonk to country rock to bluegrass as evidenced by her 2006 debut, Heartbreakers Hall of Fame. 2011s Concrete placed at 21 on the Top 200. 2014s Provoked was a rootsier h***y tonk set that cracked the top 200 and the country albums Top 20. 2017s Trophy was more introspective and moody; it placed high on the folk and indie charts. In 2019, Bob Seger personally invited her to open his farewell tour. She returned to studio recording in 2022 with Married Alone.

A Swiss rockabilly combo, the Hillbilly Moon Explosion exists in the middle ground between the traditionalism of many rockabilly revival bands and the rougher, spookier sound of psychobilly. Founded by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Emanuela Hutter and bassist/vocalist Oliver Baroni, their music has more than its share of retro twang, with Hutters polished, enigmatic singing blending with the sometimes raucous, sometimes moody guitar lines, and they add dashes of punk, lounge pop, country, and even ska to season their evocative mix. The band staked out their trademark sound on 2002s Introducing the Hillbilly Moon Explosion, they fully hit their creative stride on 2011s Buy Beg or Steal, collaborated with psychobilly veteran Mark Sparky Phillips for 2019s The Sparky Sessions, and showed off their rocking and sultry sides on 2024s Back in Time.

BIOGRAPHY
Growing up in the Bega Valley on the Far South Coast of New South Wales, Australia the story goes that the young singer-songwriter and one of a kind guitar virtuoso first picked up his instrument of choice as a 5-year-old following in the footsteps of a musical father. He began writing songs at 12, training classically throughout his teens and performing wherever he could, honing his craft and developing the dynamite live show that he is renowned for today. At 18 he finished school, turned professional and hit the road without looking back.

The following 15 years have seen him independently release 7 studio albums, tour relentlessly around the globe, play some of the biggest festivals under the sun and share stages with the likes of Tommy Emmanuel, INXS, John Butler, Lucinda Williams, Ani DiFranco, Judy Collins and Rodrigo y Gabriela.

He has been described as “the finest guitar player of this generation”, “a leading light in acoustic music” and “a performer that must be seen to be believed” and this September he will be bringing his world tour back to the USA!
