We visited Arturo Alarcón for the first time in March 2022, and his coffee has been an important component in our espresso blend, Eureka, since then. When we asked if we could take pictures, he responded enthusiastically, “of course! Put me in the movies!”
Arturo lives in San Pedro Necta, a small community in Huehuetenango, Guatemala. His property is surrounded by flowers, and he processes his coffee on site at his wet mill and concrete patios. Arturo's sons help roast and move some of his coffee locally to cafes and markets.
Although Eureka's blend changes throughout the year, the components chosen are intentional. Look forward to Arturo's coffee returning to Eureka next week.
Thank you for making us a part of your summer bucket lists - we love to see what you're sipping on. Tag us at for a chance to be featured next month!

After purchasing the farm from their father 8 years ago, José took on the director role of the regional producer’s cooperative called CAFECO, while Karina manages the green coffee sales. Since then, José and Karina’s farm has earned various awards, impressively including 2nd place overall in Cup of Excellence in 2023, and 1st place overall in 2019, 2021 and 2022.

New coffee release: Hunapu returns for it's ninth year on our menu!
In Antigua, Guatemala, volcanoes dominate the horizon and local farmers cultivate the nutrient-rich soil to grow coffees of world-renowned quality. Luis Pedro Zelaya calls this region’s coffee Hunapu, after the Mayan name for the largest volcano in the region. Luis Pedro is a fourth-generation coffee farmer and the owner of Beneficio Bella Vista, where nearly 300 farmers deliver ripe, sorted coffee, sometimes from as far as several hours away, that undergoes a long, cool fermentation and a thorough washing and drying.
For the third year in a row, Hunapu comes from a farmer named Jose Asunción Hernández Illescas. A quintessential representation of the quality in Antigua, expect a coffee with great structure and mild acidity balanced by a syrupy, juicy sweetness. Tasting notes of milk chocolate, apricot, and raw sugar make this lot one of our favorites.
Find Hunapu online now, and in cafes this weekend!
Ordinary, elevated, all the way down to our locally printed threads.
Always shaken, never stirred. Many of our menu items can be made iced, with dairy or oat milk, Eureka espresso, or that day's single origin espresso. What'll you have?
Have you visited our Fulton cafe this summer? Our favorite days are the ones we get with the garage door open.
Stop by any of our cafes this weekend to experience our Processing Menu Takeover.
Coffee processing happens before the bean dries, and depending on the process used, can greatly impact the taste of the final cup.
Natural processing leaves the coffee cherry intact while the coffee dries, washed processing removes all the mucilage (fruit skin) before drying, and anaerobic processing involves fermenting coffee in a sealed container with no oxygen.
You’ll be able to try: Reko, a washed process; Nelson Moreno, an anaerobic process; and Summer Solstice, an even blend of washed and natural process.
These coffees will be available on brew and espresso menus all weekend long.

We had a blast at our throwdown! See you in Leland next month for the last one in the series.
Coffee Drop Tuesday: It's Party time! Each year we look forward to releasing the fan-favorite natural-process coffee Party. And that time is finally here (online now and in cafes this weekend).
Party gets its name from its explosive, colorful tasting notes and its passionate fans celebrating every season it rejoins our menu. This year, we’re enjoying jammy notes of strawberry, tart lime, and sweet cotton candy.
Currently, Party comprises Gora Kone out of the West Arsi, Nensebo region of Ethiopia. The high altitude combined with natural shade and unwavering farming practices result in coffee packed with flavor.
We focus on perfecting the details in every part of the coffee experience — down to the art.
The final drink in our summer lineup is the S'morelette. This year's version is an iced latte that pairs a rich chocolate graham cracker syrup with espresso, milk, and a fluffy, vegan marshmallow foam. Oh yeah, it's topped with a sweet cocoa dusting, too.
Available at all Madcap Coffee cafes.
Placebo Decaf and Fraction Half-Caff offer delicious alternatives if you're craving a coffee but not wanting a full-caffeine drink.
Available online and in cafes.
Our Summer Sale goes through the weekend with the code SUMMER24.* You won't see another one of these for awhile, so don't miss out! Shop now: https://bit.ly/3LbTmDM
*Online only. Excludes subscriptions, gift cards, and roastery tours. Ends 7/7 at 11:59pm est.
There has been a recall issued for all Snapchill canned coffee products, which includes our Flash 12oz canned coffee. Flash has been removed from our cafe shelves and our website.
This recall applies to Snapchill canned products only, not to our roasted coffee.
From the Recall Notice Letter issued to us and other coffee roasters:
"The problem was identified when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notified Snapchill that the low acid canned foods process for manufacturing the recalled products was not filed with FDA, as is required by regulation. No illnesses have been reported to-date, and Snapchill is not aware of any instances in which the company’s products contained botulin toxin. Snapchill is working on filing the appropriate notification with FDA."
If you have any Snapchill products, the FDA is advising detroying the product. Contact us with proof of purchase and we will issue a refund.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to send us a message.
Next in our summer drink lineup is The Wynwood. This drink was originally created for the Monroe menu by then-Madcap barista and current Madcap brand designer Grant. It's a silky nitro cold coffee that's paired with a crisp ginger and lime syrup for a refreshing cocktail-like beverage. The drink is then finished with a fresh lime wheel and topped with a dash of sparkling water.
New coffee drop: Moises Ccalla from Peru is available online now and in cafes this weekend.
Moises Ccalla (ka-sigh-ah) operates a small farm in the remote Alto Inambari, Sandia region of Peru with the help of his wife. A second-generation coffee farmer, Moises’ dedication to quality (as well as his sharp sense of humor) sets him apart from other producers. We are thrilled to offer his coffee on our menu for the first time. In the cup, we’re enjoying notes of rose, apricot and pomegranate.
Our team's been hard at work behind the scenes for an announcement we're excited to make: We've redesigned our Madcap Coffee bags!
This newest version brings the qualities and information about each coffee to the forefront, making it easier to know what you're getting when you buy a coffee.
We're rolling out the 8oz bags today, with the other sizes following suit soon.
Brand new to our seasonal drink menu this summer is La Perlita (or little pearl), created by Monroe Center barista Uriel! This is a captivating drink that layers marinated boba, jammy strawberry syrup, and a vegan milk tea. It takes inspiration from one of Uriel's favorite drinks as a kid: Yakult. La Perlita is a tribute to his interest in Japanese culture and classic, childhood nostalgia. Make sure you get in to try this one!
Available at all Madcap cafes.
With temperatures soaring, we can't think of a better treat than an affogato. Each one is made with a shot of our espresso poured over a scoop of ice cream that we get from a local shop. So stop in, get out of the heat, and enjoy!
Our monthly roastery tour is next Friday! With the bit of extra free time you usually have in the summer, you should snag a ticket. You'll get an inside look into a morning at the Madcap training space and roastery. You'll see the general process around coffee roasting, how coffee goes from green to the retail bag, and how to taste coffee like a pro.
Space is limited, so get your ticket now on our website!
Our Monroe Center TNT is tonight! Doors open at 5 and pours start at 6. Food and drinks provided. See you there!
New coffee drop: Reko from Ethiopia is available online now and in cafes this weekend.
One of our most well-known single origin offerings gets its namesake from the Reko mountain in the Kochere district of Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia. The coffee here is marked by its floral, tea-like, and complex quality. Even among world-class coffees, Reko is the sparkling gem of washed Ethiopian flavor. 2024 marks our eleventh year purchasing Reko, with this season’s lot gifting us notes of lemon candy, juicy peach, and turbinado sugar.
Summer seasonal drinks are here and available in all 4 cafes!
We have 3 new drinks on the menu. La Perlita — or little pearl — layers marinated boba, jammy strawberry syrup, and a vegan milk tea. The Wynwood is silky nitro cold coffee paired with a crisp ginger and lime syrup for a refreshing cocktail-like beverage. Finally, there's the S'morelette, an iced latte that pairs a rich chocolate graham cracker syrup with espresso, milk, and a fluffy, vegan marshmallow foam.
