Josephine County Public Works
2021 Chip Seal Season

Beginning Monday, June 21, 2021 Public Works will begin chip sealing in the Illinois Valley area (District 5 )

The list of roads scheduled for work (in alphabetical order not necessarily in this order for work) are…

Airport Drive
Dick George Road
Garner Road
Hays Cutoff Road
Hummingbird Road
Laurel Road
Lone Mountain Road
Naue Way
O’Brian Road
Rockydale Road
Smith-Sawyer Road
Takilma Road
Waldo Road
Walters Drive
White Schoolhouse Road

Road works signs will be posted a few days before work begins. Look out for the road crews and please drive slowly and take caution in the work zones.

When the loose rock is spread, your tires may kick up the gravel so driving slower and keeping several car lengths between you and any drivers in front of you will help keep the gravel from being kicked up onto your vehicle. The same goes for the fog seal, that nice dark oil spread on the newly graveled road. It takes a little while to soak in, so driving slowly will help keep your tires from kicking it up onto your vehicle and any vehicles behind you.

When the lines are paint striped onto the new chip sealed road, it is very important you drive between the lines and not over the lines. The paint dries quickly but if you drive over it, when it is still a bit wet, your tires will kick up paint and get on your vehicle.

Any questions or concerns, please call us at 541-474-5460.

On April 12, the installation of a sewer line will necessitate a road closure at 2815 South River Road to all traffic, including emergency vehicles and school busses. Moser Paving will be performing the work.

Coutant Lane to Leonard Road and Darneille Lane to Leonard Road on either side of the project are alternate routes back to Redwood Avenue.

Josephine County Public Works understands this is a significant inconvenience for residents and businesses located along the route. Public Works appreciates the patience of Josephine County motorists during the project. For questions regarding any aspect of the closure, please contact Public Works at (541) 474-5460.
