After forty years of trudging through the wilderness, God allowed a handful of men to behold the wealth of the promised land. They returned from Canaan with lavish produce and grape clusters that had to be carried on poles. When questioned about the land, they reported, “Indeed, it is a bountiful country — a land flowing with milk and honey, but the people are powerful, and their towns are fortified.”
Even with God guaranteeing victory, the people revolted, saying the spoil wasn’t worth the warfare. It would be gut-wrenching to realize that our insecurities could blind us to the fruit that is already in our hands. Do not allow a spirit of self-sabotage to rob you of your harvest. You can grab the grapes or your insecurities, but you cannot hold them both.
Let’s go 2024! Pressing into His presence, contending for signs, wonders, miracles and a harvest of souls.🔥
Sometimes, miracles can feel like near misses. I am sure that is what the sisters of Lazarus felt like after calling for Jesus and then burying their brother. In the natural, it appeared that they had missed the window for a miracle by minutes. It’s probably safe to assume that the grave site conversation included a list of what-if scenarios:
What if they had sent word to Jesus sooner?
What if Lazarus had held on a few hours longer?
What if Jesus had come a few days earlier?
While everyone was questioning what could have happened or what should have been done, everything occurred just as it was predestined to occur. No, the miracle didn’t happen when they expected it to or the way they imagined. And that was a good thing because God had scheduled something far greater than they could imagine—not a healing but a resurrection.
Lazarus’s name would go down in history not because a prayer was answered but because it was delayed. I’m sure you have experienced what seems like narrow escapes in your faith journey as well. Take time to reflect on those events, and consider that sometimes, the best miracles are those that seem like near misses.

The line in the sand is simple:
We will adjust our lives for the move of God or we will miss it.
**** To the critics of revival heed Gamaliel’s advice: “But if it is of God [and it appears that it is], you will not be able to stop them; or else you may even be found fighting against God!”
