125 knotted rolls made this morning. These are a tradition on all the big holidays in my wife's family, served with orange frosting. 5 generations have been enjoying them now!

One can never have enough sponges! This is the bucket I keep at my work table, loaded with every type of sponge I may need. They all have different uses based on size, shape, and density/texture. Every couple of weeks the water starts to get funky (faster in the summer heat), so I refill the bucket and bleach out the sponges.

Going through a bunch of old photos and found this gem. Me, my brother, and our grandfather, around 1974/5. I'm the little one.

Your of the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings on the SC Johnson campus in Racine today. Very cool! This building is the R&D tower, one of the largest cantilevered buildings ever built. Unfortunately we could not take photos of the interiors, so look up photos of the Administration Building, which we also saw. It is amazing! Definitely worth the time if you're in the area.

I redesigned my studio space to make it more hand-building friendly. Since the wheel is no longer the focus of my process, I moved it back against the wall in its own cubby to contain trimmings. I also built a new work table which gives me a nice 'L' to work in, additional shelving, and a clear path to the slab roller (which is just out of frame to the left). I'm excited to start making some pieces in this space!

Haven't made a loaf in about a month, but found some time to crank one out this week. All white, 7 hour rise plus 24 hours in the fridge. Great crumb, nice flaky crust, very delicious!

Twins! Set up two L&L eQuad 2827 kilns at Morton East HS today. These replaced two old kilns that were just limping along. Great upgrade!

That's a boatload of sushi! We decided to try out Umai, the new sushi and Hibachi restaurant that opened down the street in the old Kawa location. It was really good! We were sad to see Kawa go, but Umai is a welcome replacement. They have a large selection of rolls, including some that are deep fried. Good stuff!

Worked at a school down by Midway today. Full element changes in two Skutt KM1231PK kilns, plus 1 brick replacement in the left kiln. 400+ element pins!

Martha got her first kiln! L&L e23T-3 with Genesis 2 touchscreen controller and quad elements. Nice setup in the corner of the garage, and I got to meet her dog!

Picked up a used Bailey 30" slab roller a couple of weeks ago. It was too long to fit in the studio, so I had to cut down the outfeed side about 18". Students are excited to use it so I'm making some little sample pieces for demos, and exploring some new ideas for my own work. My hands have been hurting a lot lately so less throwing and more handbuilding would be good.
