Ooh! Aahhh!... The 4th of July is right around the corner and we love fireworks!

Did you know that fireworks contain metals, nitrates and sulfur, along with paper, plastic and other contaminants. If fireworks residue is not cleaned up after use, rain will wash these pollutants into nearby storm drains, and they will end up polluting our waterways. Here are six tips for safe disposal of used fireworks:

1.) Do not shoot fireworks over a body of water, but rather near the shoreline, so debris falls on land and can be retrieved.
2.) Do not leave used fireworks on the street, or hard surface of any kind.
3.) All used fireworks should be disposed of as garbage and not recycled.
4.) Place used fireworks in a bucket of water to cool them. Then, put them in a garbage bag and into your garbage can.
5.) Dump the contaminated water onto grass or on landscape where it won’t flow into a storm drain or street.
6.) Do not pour contaminated water onto the pavement, into the street, or down a storm drain.

Uncle Sam Fireworks is truly a Family Business!

05/10/2024

Friday Fireworks Fact: Early U.S. settlers brought their love of fireworks with them to the New World where firings of black powder were used to celebrate holidays and impress Native Americans. Fireworks were part of the very first Independence Day – a tradition that continues every 4th of July when we celebrate as John Adams had hoped “with pomp, parade….bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other.”

Our Story

Uncle Sam Fireworks is a local family-run business from Green Bay, WI, founded in 1976. Now offering Wisconsin's best product selection and performance, competitive prices, knowledgeable customer service, and overall quality. Located just north of Green Bay, Wisconsin (in Howard) at Highway 41 and Lineville Rd (Exit 173) on the frontage road (1690 E Deerfield Ave).

In 1976 Mel Decker started the family business selling sparklers and fountains in local grocery stores in northeast Wisconsin. Soon, his son Chuck joined him. He started out selling fireworks from the back of his station wagon. First, at the end of a driveway in Sturgeon Bay, WI, and later at The Silver Dollar Bar in Suamico, WI.

During the 1980's and 90's, Chuck and his wife Deb vended from a small red, white, & blue fireworks stand that they constructed each year in Angelica, WI. It would sow the seeds for the future.

In the early 90's, we opened a second location in Abrams, WI, selling out of a trailer by the HiWay Restaurant. That became our primary location for a number of years.
