Green Tree Rotary Club
The Green Tree Rotary is a very active professional club which exemplifies Service Above Self in our local community and around the world.
The Green Tree Rotary Club is an organization of business men and women that are actively working to make Green Tree and the surrounding community a great place to live and work. We have supported many local, national and international programs.
Green Tree Rotary sponsored this evening’s Concert in the Park at Green Tree Park. We handed out water, popcorn and chips. We also had a raffle for a “Lottery Tree” with a $100’s worth of lottery tickets. What a nice evening to spread some Rotary Cheer!
Our speaker for September 5, 2024, is Tony Colaizzio with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s goal is: Since 9/11, we have been helping America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. We are also committed to eradicating veteran homelessness and helping America to Never Forget September 11, 2001.

The Green Tree Rotary Golf Outing was held on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Chartiers Country Club. The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time.
The Green Tree Rotary Golf Outing will be Monday, August 12, 2024 at Chartiers Country Club. Admission of $185 includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, dinner, skill prizes and admission to the driving range and practice tees. We are also looking for Hole, Flag and Gold Sponsorships, and for gifts for our Basket Raffle and Silent Auction. Green Tree Rotary assembled and delivered Easter Baskets to area shut-ins. What a great way to brighten someone’s day!
Green Tree Rotary is awarding two $1,500 scholarships to graduating seniors who are residents of Green Tree. These are the details:
Annual Scholarship
Each year the Green Tree Rotary Club award scholarships to local students. This
year the Green Tree Rotary Club will award 2 scholarships of $1,500.00 to be used
by the recipients as needed to pay for college or trade school related costs.
• Who is Eligible: Applicants must be Green Tree residents. Students must
be graduating this year and attending a trade school or college the next
academic year.
• Applications Evaluation: Candidates who apply for the scholarship will be
evaluated using information provided in the application. Applicants will be
evaluated on community service, school involvement, scholastic excellence
financial need and quality of the application.
• Application Location: Applications will be available at the school
guidance counselor’s office and on line on the Green Tree Rotary website by
November 17, 2023.
• Application Due Date: Applications are due by March 30, 2024.
• Scholarship Award Date: The scholarships will be awarded by May 15.
The recipients and their families will be invited to a Rotary luncheon meeting on
the last Thursday in May for the presentation of scholarships.

Green Tree Rotary held a very successful food drive on Saturday, November 18, 2023. 15 carloads of food was collected and delivered to the New Cultures Church Food Bank in the West End. We also collected $635 in cash for the Food Banks The generosity of the residents of Green Tree was amazing.
Green Tree Rotary is saddened by the news of the passing of AG Pat Shaffer. May she rest in peace.
The Green Tree Rotary Food Drive will be Saturday, November 18. Green Tree residents are asked to place non-perishable food by their front door by 10:00 am. Green Tree Rotarians will take the food to local food banks for the needy is this area. Any questions, call or text Barb Bennett at 412-445-6116.

Green Tree Rotary volunteered time at Global Links on Saturday, October 28, 2023. We sorted surplus medical supplies, which will be sent to medical facilities domestically and internationally.

Green Tree Rotary members rang the bell for the Salvation Army on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Giant Eagle on Greentree Road.

Green Tree Rotary held a very successful Food Drive on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022. We were amazed by the generosity of the residents of Green Tree. The Food Bank at New Life Fellowship in the West End was amazed at the quantity and quality of the donations. Good job Green Tree!!

The Green Tree Rotary Golf Outing on Monday, August 22,2023 at Chartiers Country Club was a great succcess. The weather in the morning was threatening to rain, then when the outing started, the skies cleared, the sun came out and it was a beautiful day. The golfers had a great time and we all enjoyed a delicious dinner, and many fun raffles and skill prizes.

The Green Tree Rotary Club awarded two $1,500.00 scholarships to Green Tree seniors Carolyn Bigley and Jacob Malesky. Carolyn graduated from Bishop Canevin High School. She plans to attend Chatham University in 2022. Jacob graduated from Keystone Oaks High School. He plans to attend California University in 2022 and study Criminology. Each was selected from a group of excellent candidates. They were each presented with a check and a certificate of achievement at a Green Tree Rotary Club meeting. We hope that both students will have a successful academic career.
Green Tree Rotary was awarded the prestigious “Governor’s Crystal Citation” at the District Conference.
